Man I do too. But I hardly ever use the Massive Passive or Vari Mu. I’m not entirely sure why either. The 8200 either. |

Their star is the 1178 plugin, it really is fantastic and stands up pretty well against some of my hardware comps - really great programming!

It’s close - one doesn’t sound “better” per se - just different. Bottom end is a little bigger going through the real transformers. |

Too rich for my blood, but have thought on the 1178 many times. I can’t see myself buying the others, already have the UAD versions (and got them for much cheaper on different sales), are these any better?

Even though the IK is fine, lol. pulsar mu is better than the UAD, not really better than MJUC mk iii on hq that costs 25 bucks or the magic death eye stereo plug. Honestly the pack isn’t really worth it. There not really functional. Smasher is given away for free. And these aren’t worth 150 bucks a pop. I don’t think the 1178 is better than the Softube Fet II or Molot and I didn’t even pay 50 bucks for them and like their attack more. I got the FET II in some bundle from plugin boutique with the British class A murk and some other stuff and got the intro price for Molot GE. |

Molot neither sounds nor really works like any 1176 variant; it just attacks better than the emulations. I like the new softube fet ii I got with some other stuff in their essentials bundle but haven’t used it on a mix. It is probably cool on drum samples but has a minimum phase anti alias filter |

I’d really suggest peeps try the 1178 for themselves though. The Pulsar 1178 has a lot of sounds, pump, and smack. They just want 80-150 bucks when most everyone already has a lot of sounds, pump, and smack and being a circuit modeled fast attack compressor, it’s not really that functional even at 8x over sampling versus compressors coded to minimize distortion in the control path. That being said it sounds cool and certainly better than the UAD and Waves 1176 emulations misfiring on tons of things for 15 years. |

I got it on sale, when it was launched for I think like $85, it was a very good price.
