I really should pick this up. And I was doing so well for a while there not buying sw and going for hardware. Cheers, Geoff Dude. It's the best plugin to come out in AGES for solving problems. Since at least when I first used the Sound Radix stuff or Molot GE came out when yes, weird compression was available and fully functional itb even if it was just an updated version of an old, free, weird compressor named hammer in Russian.
For me honestly, Molot GE, Arbiter, and uh Celestion Shaper solve insane problems. Otherwise Izotope. Soothe I guess could solve problems for people using Chinese condensers.
Alright alright. I will pick it up. Cheers, Geoff

After playing with Arbiter and comparing it to other deessers, its algorithm is almost identical to DMG's TrackDS (noise detect >50%). TrackDS is a bit more tunable, but Arbiter has three bands.

Just tried DMG TrackDS. Arbiter is cheaper and easier to use. And multi and now. I vastly prefer it to DMG.

Track DS and Essence are just crappier versions of the Weiss DS1. Track DS has minimum phase crossovers and neither are as tweakable, easy to use, nor attack as well. Arbiter is crossoverless and thresholdless like dbx 902/520 or derr-esser meets Nova GE. There’s no crossover. It’s the best thought out de-esser ever.

Thanks for that info Dan, I wondered why I never like the sound or response of both Track DS and Essence. Arbiter sounds so incredible for de essing - and any taming task I have given it.

It’s on sale right now for 24 euros (says only an hour left on the site though). So besides de-essing, what else are your favourite uses?

Check out how it can tuck in mud 1-2dB on anything including full mixes. Also the new expansion mode can really rebalance and fatten up low end. I like a bell around 50 and another around 120-150 as a starting point for this. There's more presets in the new update that may give you good ideas too.

Thanks sentientsound. Damn, guess the hour left on the sale wasn’t just a sales push, now back up to 40. Shoulda bought it at the sale price

The whole bundle at full price is still a good buy IMO.
One thing to take note of in the multi-band version is that the target slope is global for all 3 bands.
For this reason I tend to use 2 instances if I'm working on a full mix or full-range groups. For the low end and low mids I have better luck with 3-3.5dB/oct slope, and for mids and high control I'm usually starting at 4.5dB/oct.
The new "forward" or "lift" presets gave me good ideas for approaching vocals or mixes as did the "LF workout" and "Depth Charge" presets for low end shaping.

Was going to pick this up tonight. Weird time to end a sale. All the tdr plugs are worth it at full price except for maybe simulathe if you don’t cut wax

Thanks for that. I went ahead and got Nova GE - it was the last one of the core plugs I didn't have. Hard to turn down for $14...

Wish sound radix would do an updated version of Surfer EQ. I’ve noticed it can add artifacts, but it’s so incredibly useful to follow around a resonance

Also I want powair to have both a gain reduction and gain increase range knob instead of combined. I’ve had to take it off two bus when it starts pumping stuff up.

Would love to see higher Q options in an updated version.

Would love to see higher Q options in an updated version. It can do wonders when there’s a bloaty resonance that pops up at the bottom end and floats around. There’s usually two obvious peaks that you can follow around and tame…and that does a job no other plug does for sure.
