Now THIS is a great use of AI. I’m all over this…as long as it doesn’t suck.

Oh wait…it was announced 4 months ago, so it’s probably vaporware.

If this is slate: I own ssd 5.5 and haven’t heard anything about it.
My buddy was getting low balled on his Roland kit, so I just bought it: don’t have the dough, but it was ti good to let go.

So, it’s like ssd 3, logic drummer and songwriter. They are all interesting, you might as well sequence in logic ?

I own ssd5 too…and honestly I like the sounds better than SD…but I never use it for whatever reason. This could def change that. Although I’ve kinda gotten pretty proficient with building drums - or at least the last time I did it - it wasn’t a misery. But I’m still don’t think like a drummer. This is a separate program - not completely clear if it’s SSD only or not. It if it can speed things up, I’m all for it.

I know Toontrack isn’t AI - but the EZ Bass and Keys - how do they operate? You play something and it looks for similar matches? The key to the AI thing is going to be whether the results are acceptable (well, duh)…I just mean - am I gonna have to sift through 50 of them. Is one gonna suck on the bridge etc…if I have to futz with the results, then it’s not much different than playing the beat and then finding matching grooves.

Slate, must be just slate, but who knows?
if you build a model of your beat and it searches, slate loops for the best match, would be good if you can add other loops?
By the time, you built a model of your pattern, don’t see the point of searching slate loops, why not just trigger your samples or tweak the sequence in midi?
You can already do this in logic and load the midi into a track with slate drums, so not certain the ai part will do much of anything, unless it adds embellishments ?

Oh wait…it was announced 4 months ago, so it’s probably vaporware. I got an email too awhile ago. it's "coming soon" and that is always an extremely variable statement with all Steven Slate products... (not to be confused with Slate Digital products which are now owned by Audiotonix)

FWIW, I use Jamstix 4 and it's still the most complete "AI" drummer I've heard, especially for fills. The built in kits aren't always my first choice so it does help to have templates pre-routed to the kit/VST of your choice. I understand it's no go for mac though.

I always felt that SSD fit the mix better than other Drum VIs including SD. For some reason I don't find it as user friendly as SD and so never used it much. This AI drummer may tip the scales in SSDs favor.
It looks to be part of SSD5.5.

I always feel like the SD stuff sounds smacky and starts too roomy…that I’m always having problems getting it to fit in the mix 🤷♂️

You just don’t RAWK hard enough, yo! Smacky and roomy is da sound! I kid….
Those samples are SO premixed I could not go back to the f’n 90s.

When I use SD for my own stuff, I’ll usually break it out and replace the kick and supplement the snare…then barely any room if any at all…but that’s kinda how I treat my real drums too.
