I have a custom Warmoth Tele Deluxe body on its way to me. I still have a few pieces left to order, mainly the neck. I'm looking at genuine Fender Strat Necks and just wondering what should I be looking for? I'm pretty set on getting a 4 bolt. I'm leaning towards a 22 fret neck with medium jumbo frets, because that's the neck that's been on a few other guitars that I like.
What should I look out for? Is a $600 neck really any better than a $299 neck? I'm skeptical that it is.

Congrats, Tele/Strat combo is always cool.
Personal preference in 2024.
Roasted neck = very easy to play, no stick. (Or satin finish at the least)
Med C Profile (if you don't know the neck thickness and shape you like)
And minimum 9.5" radius.I would choose 10 or 12" myself and ideally compounded 9.5"-12"
Since this isn't a vintage guitar I would 'personally' steer clear of 7.5" radius, there is little value in it.
Tusq nut over bone or corian.

The satin roasted maple necks are really nice - you can get them right from fender. Fretwork on the tele one I got is fantastic, the nut slots are cut but they need to be massaged a bit for good playability at the first 5 frets. I really like the V shaped necks on fenders but do realize that not many folks are into that.

I have a custom Warmoth Tele Deluxe body on its way to me. I still have a few pieces left to order, mainly the neck. I'm looking at genuine Fender Strat Necks Well... telecasters have square necks & neck pockets while strats have rounded necks & neck pockets... and they aren't always compatible... meaning the neck won't actually fit & intonate... So. There's kinda that issue to sort out first. Almost any neck is going to need final fretwork once its fitted to the guitar & has had a chance to settle... Most of the difference in pricing, IME... comes down to the finish work. Maple is maple, carved on a CNC machine. Most frets are machine pressed... So it really comes down to QC & finish work. Is the neck raw? How raw? Raw wood w/ un-touched frets? Frets ground & smooth lacquer applied? FWIW - Nash guitars? Those are allparts necks & bodies. That's how they start life... then he re-finishes & re-fits everything. Warmoth makes great necks too. I've used a few over the years. If you can do your own finish work the costs go down. One buddy has done several necks with the mixwax wipe on poly. He's got it down! His process leaves 'em feeling & looking as good as anything...

I’m definitely getting it professionally setup, with fretwork done, once I build it. I had the body made to fit the rounded strat neck pocket…I’ve always loved how a Strat headstock looks on a tele. For ease of…well everything, I think I’m just going to buy a neck straight from fender.

Screwdriver & set of strings and be ready to jam? Typically my experience... final fine-tuning / setup tweaks aside. Also consider the Stratosphere store - Pick any fender neck 'ya want! Great parts source. www.ebay.com/str/thestratosphere/Necks/_i.html?store_cat=2

Tele neck on a strat body, no go.
Warmoth sticks to Fender specs, tolerances are easy to work with.

Musikraft might give you more options/ideas. I like their stuff, but it has been quite a while and did have one that needed some fret work.
Cheers, Geoff
