Sat down to watch on Friday thinking I would just get through an hour or so, but I ended up watching the whole thing! Like many of us, I'm sure, the records Brendan worked on are a huge part of the soundtrack to my life. Was super excited when I saw that he did this interview - I don't think I had even seen a picture of him before this, haha.

Thanks for posting this here, seawell - I hadn't seen this hit my feed yet. Man, I love those records O'Brien did for Springsteen. Really pushed the E Street Band in a much more aggressive direction. Even when the mix is smashed (e.g. "Radio Nowhere"), it still sounds really good to me.

I've always loved the guitar breaks in the Black Crowes' Hard to Handle. It was only recently I learned (before this 'aired') that it was O'Brien who played them.

I've noticed a lot of these online music publications/blogs co-opt stuff from Beato interviews...sometimes with no credit. For instance, I've seen several things Warren Haynes is quoted as saying and they're almost verbatim from the lengthy interview Beato did with him recently.

Did he talk about this? That was always the rumour. Cheers, Geoff Yes, he talks about this in the interview! He sounded a bit like Steve Lukathor, bothered about 1 or 2 rushed 8th notes in a solo! Hell, all my solos are rushed, LOL

This was such a great interview! Spent the day yesterday watching bits and pieces to get through it. Definitely worth spending the 3 hours or so to watch the whole thing!

that is a really long interview - took me all week to watch it (in chunks - which is sorta aggravating because then YouTube wants to give me extra ads... ) but really great interview! He's done so many great records (and played a few integral parts that I was unaware of!)

That was the tits. Like others, took all week to watch. But holy shit, what a garage of knowledge and endless catalog greatness he's been a part of for sure. Totally worth the watch.

Just finished it last night. And agreed it was awesome. Had no idea he played tons of organ on tunes I love.
