Thanks so much for sharing! I'd never heard of Missy before, but my gosh, those vocals are chilling. Frisson for me in my kitchen while my 7yo destroys the house around me.

A salient reminder to any other gear producers - a quality act is worth the expense in showing what your product can do. Her mic control with no pop filter is exemplary; not to mention pitch, tone, emotion and writing skills. Finally, the mic itself seems very good and handles the dynamics really well. Cheers, Ross

''a quality act is worth the expense" Well in this case no money changed hands and she loves the mic.

Is there any way to hear the raw vocal without any compression/EQ ?

Is there any way to hear the raw vocal without any compression/EQ ? Unfortunately not as it's not my recording. It's a sparse mix(single vocal and piano) with very little processing by the sound of it.
Basically, she's is an incredible singer songwriter and knows how to work the mic.

Incredible song! I’ll be sharing with my friend. It looks and sounds like a live recording. However she’s wearing IEM and lots of camera cuts. Could be multiple takes? I’m guessing it’s staged for video. In that case, all assumptions are out the window, including if it’s even this mic. I assume it is.. and bet on it! Sounds killer! Just a little more proof doesn’t hurt

Do you have any details on the recording and mix signal chains?

I have no details on the recording setup weather it was multiple takes. etc but it' doesn't really matter as the recording is pretty raw an real and down to a quality gear and mostly the performance.
It's good to be cynical to some degree as anything could falsified in this day and age... God knows there are plenty of forums stooges and Youtube and social media shills propping up mediocre products.... I know for sure that a credible artist would not engage in that type of B.S.

I understand. I never questioned Elvis’s live special until I saw the making of… they didn’t switch out mics between takes, they switched out audiences!
Entertainment at the big sellout tour level is at the level of money where anything at all goes. I saw she is adding a bunch of dates, I’m happy for her! This video is pretty incredible, looks like a mom pulled up to her piano with her cell phone on. Brilliant! Absolutely kills it in this! Yeah, I do hope the engineer comes here to defend it! 😁

Their use of IEM, clearly?
Is it for the reverb?
I’m also curious how they didn’t get bleed from the team of camera guys

Here’s a great video showing 25 *jaw dropping* singers demoing various vocal mics.
But I never posted it because I realized, I’m not actually sure it’s real.
It made me ask myself which is more likely?
A- a camera was rolling at every one of these unique moments?
Or
B- the company behind the production wanted a nice promo vid, and paid for a mock up, grab the best looking mic for it.
All this said, it’s not taking anything from the talent. And certainly they could nail it in their sleep.. but are these mics accurate? ….
Anyway.. I’ll be the first to Let It Go…

Obviously so the singer can use the mic effectively and hear them selves... Singers generally use headphones in the studio but they're ugly on video... Hardly a controversy.
Re:Absence of noisy camera operators...
It's not armature hour, they do this stuff all of the time.

His use of IEM, clearly? Is it for the reverb? I’m also curious how he didn’t get bleed from the team of camera guys Honest question: What kind of bleed are you thinking would happen from the cameras? There are three shots: two appear to be locked off on tripods and one handheld. The handheld is shaky as hell--they were hardly able to use the footage from that angle at all--so I'm guessing it's a longer focal length and the camera op is standing back a ways. So quite possibly only one other person in the recording space with her, and that person not standing close to the mics. And in the nulls of those mics anyway. Not trying to be snarky or anything, but if a solo shooter makes audible noise in that scenario, that shooter is out of a job pronto.

Wait but what about the camera operator up on that grassy knoll!...

Not trying to be mean spirited. I just hoped for some more clarity and in depth discussion, to hopefully show off the mic more.
It looks like a home to me. A behind the scenes would kick ass, we’d maybe hear some bleed and gleam a little.
So this home is more of a YouTube venue? Ok I think I’m getting it now. Not what I thought originally
