Friend of mine in NY is willing to sell me a sizable number of his high end, well-crafted bass trap, absorption and diffusion panels - I have admired them for a years and he is looking to redesign. They are 4'x3' feet on average (some smaller some bigger) and beautifully wood-wrapped, so they are large and not light.
Crating and freighting each one will be unthinkably expensive.
Any one know of a service that will pick them up from his studio and drive them down to Texas? I can't do such a road trip myself.

Uber eats? I don't think you are going to find any service that would do it at a cost you are going to like (because they will need to pack it anyway or it will get damaged and it will probably get damaged anyway like all moves). The cheapest is going to be doing it yourself, which you said you can't, so then you have to decide if it's worth it to you (if these are special to you). You might get lucky and find a plane ticket to wherever you have to go in NY, but it's likely to cost you $200 or more (don't just look at one-way, sometimes a round trip is cheaper even if you abandon one leg of it). Then rent a car/truck/van, well that's going to cost you at least another $200 for a one-way rental, plus gas, and if you don't drive straight through, hotel and food, and... how much is this worth to you again? I'm pretty sure you'll be able to buy it locally, or build it yourself, or have someone do it locally for less $$ in the end.

there are thousands of independent truckers driving that route every day. Just look for a freight broker and you'll probably find a way to do it.

I’m going down that rabbit hole. Having crated and freighted consoles in the past I kinda know the process but it just seems like everything has gotten crazy expensive.

When you flood the market with paper and devalue your currencies as has been done since the events that transpired from January 2020 to autumn 2023, again devaluing currency, your currency (money) is worth less to the point of becoming worthless.... then you need more and more of it to buy the same basics. And speaking of basic, that is basic economics. Unfortunately, the G7 nations are lead by a group of individuals who see no issue with devaluing our currencies and thus prices have risen as much as 40% to 100% on EVERYTHING across the board, except wages which is why it is flaBBERGASTING to face the prices we have to pay for transport when we have not reached a commensurate level of compensation for labor tendered. And worse. . . any and ALL funds in savings have deflated, which was the plan all along. OK, my economics minor is starting to show through and it borders on breaking the new politics rule, which I would never want to do. Big sigh . . . Nothing's going to get cheaper without a depression, and the wealthy will continue to accumulate a disproportionate share of global wealth and we will continue to face economic hardships like the rising cost of shipping. Nothing is getting cheaper. Act sooner than later. sorry if I depressed anyone. |

Your going to find it is probably cheapest / easiest to fly down rent a truck drive back.
You could always try Uship, but if you watch a couple of episodes of Shipping Wars you will see the wisdom of my first recommendation.
