Polywav files are the standard in NLEs for video editing. It actually is very convenient there. If you record, say, a boom mic and a lav mic during an interview, the two files are packaged together so you can easily switch between them (or blend them), but they never can accidentally slip from one another. In a way, it's kind of like recording a stereo file vs. two mono files. Except a polywav can contain more than two channels. I do wish that all DAWs supported it, though, because audio editing is still much easier in DAWs than in NLEs. I'm pretty sure Reaper supports it. I mean, Reaper supports like everything. I gotta really give it an honest try someday. You still using it, svart? Oh yeah. Love it more than ever now. I've branched out and started using a handful of the more advanced (for me) features and I just can't see how any other DAW can even compare in features. Anyway, the video editing I've done, I always have to unlock the audio tracks and line them up manually because nobody ever checks phase on boom/lav mic.. Yeah, that's totally true: the boom and lav are never lined up exactly right! And then the boom is almost always better anyway.
There's another scenario I wasn't thinking about when I posted before: Some field recorders (like Sound Devices, prob the #1 brand of field recorder in use) actually only record in polywav. I have to say that does annoy me, because obviously there are plenty of times where I'd rather just have each individual file recorded. IIRC, the higher end Zoom field recorders (F6, F8) actually let you choose to record either split files or polywav files. But if you hand off individual split audio files to a director (or the DIT), they're probably not going to be very happy with you!
That's why it'd be great if all DAWs could handle this stuff - you could open a polywav file, fix the timing of boom vs. lav, and repackage the polywav. (And it needs to maintain timecode, too.)
I do really need to give Reaper some time...

So, basically an issue for video, non issue for audio ?

When do they announce the complete list of updates. Just had a look and couldn’t find anything.
Cheers, Geoff

Is Fuser included in the update? Or is that an add on? That looks pretty interesting.

thanks for the link, Geoff. There was quite a bit more there than I realized. Some nice changes/fixes! I’m especially happy that they’ve made it simpler to commit to / freeze one’s outboard with the I/O plugin. It wasn’t as elegant as Pro Tools before, but it looks like it’s going to be quicker and simpler now. 👍

FYI:
When I am writing a new song, I often end up with 20-30 or more clips on my phone, In voice memos.
In past, I have had to go through a long process of exporting them one by one, sharing with my computer then loading into logic.
Don’t know if its a new feature or a bug fix, but once I shared with Mac in downloads folder I was able to import all the files at once as a batch, and increase their gain, saving 10’s of tedious mouse clicks: very nice.

Does it finally have a simplified method for consolidating tracks, with auto cross-fades, collect for output and share with other DAWs?

FWIW….bulk track export is one of the things that LogicX got SO right….what did it not do for you?
It’s funny—their import can be a lossy tricky minefield….but export is kind of idiot proof. The opposite of Cubase, whose import will never wipe the timestamp of a file (!?) and is pretty dummy proof, but its bulk export is such a pain in the butt.

logic 11, has introduced a manual editing mode in logic drummer, so you can easily edit what ever pattern logic starts with. here are two current how to videos about the new manual mode and being fearless editing logic drummer patterns!

Looks like you can convert to midi which is a nice thing. I was never happy with the kick patterns in logic drummer. This will make tweaking the kicks easy.

Anybody read anything about an input monitoring bug!
I can see and hear logic drummer track on channel and stereo out. But my analog input, I see on channel, with record on and input monitoring off or on, but never on the stereo out, can’t see it or hear it?
