Hello I'm trying to buy audio gear from a US second-hand store, but the people there won't send to Europe, as they told me, europeans are thieves. Things escalated, & now a sale ain't happening in my wildest dreams. But I need the gear. I thought that maybe someone in the forum could help me, by having the gear delivered to their place, & then send the gear to France. I'd send the money prior to the buy and the shipment of course and would make sure 50$ goes her/his way, as a sign of my gratitude. I won't go with a brand-new low-message-count RGO account, but I get the sense that RGO regulars are great people. If someone feels like helping, please send me a PM ! Many thanks in advance ! xxxxx Cheers Louis

Thanks good sir ! I appreciate it . what's a a Myusaddress ? I'll have a look online right after. The small US shop : they only want to sell within the USA I think... Which I kinda understand usually. People don't want to write a proforma. For example I got sent a rack two weeks ago via USPS and had to make the proforma myself, as the sender didn't knew about the necessity to declare the goods & their value, the sender and recipient addresses etc. It's no big deal, the rack found its way to my city eventually . But the concern the small US shop in question has is not about filling a proforma for the customs I think, in fact they hold a grudge against europeans customers because of past experiences with buyers abroad they told me. The gear in question are utilitarians that I need to finally merge my production setup into my mixing setup. Fingers crossed.

myusaddress.ca/This let’s peeps have a legal us address so you can ship stuff to it. I live close to border so I go pick it up and import it myself to save fees, but they do customs and mail it north, meaning to canada but there are extra fees

I gotta be honest…I wouldn’t want to do it either - but not because of my Europe hate lol…it’s because it’s complicated as hell.

Not so bad, a few extra pieces of paperwork, shippers don’t care, just do the paperwork!

It's not too complicated to send abroad. My package from the US was stuck at the french custom for it lacked the proper declaration. I've had to fill a very basic proforma and off it went a few hours later.

Continent hate is a new one. “Stupid Europe with all those dumb peninsulas and old buildings…” Every dealer has a horror story about their first couple of non domestic sales and losing money because of customs, shippers, taxes etc. The problem is the little guys see it as a pain, don’t care to learn how to do it. I would like to say it’s as simple as calling your UPS or FEDEX rep to walk you through it, but the biggest hurdle there is if your not doing a million dollars in shipping costs a year getting the call back.

Lemme know if it's in your time window or if you need it sooner than by way of another solution. I'm visiting my brother who lives in Sarasota, arriving October 2nd and there for I think 12 days. I've done the same for a bunch of family, friends and a few times for guys who live in Eastern Europe from another music forum who companies wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. I live just outside of Basel. PM me if you like.
Cheers...

I have shipped a guitar amp to Germany (tubes broke on the way - I'll own that.) Shipped a Tascam TMD-4000 to Europe via air freight (that was fun) and sent a t-shirt to Israel that took 3 months to get there. I get why they don't want to do it - its painfull and so many things can go wrong. Best wishes. Not something I can personally help with I'm afraid.

Thanks guys ! Right now I'm following Kcatthedog advice about signing in on the MyUsAddress website. These services sell you a virtual US address, so that a foreigner can receive US packages (sale-tax-free) and have them shipped to the EU for a reasonable price.
I had no idea such services existed. It's pretty neat.
Kcatthedog is... The man !
I need to borrow a friend's email address to order the racks, because I don't want the shop to know I'm the one ordering. I don't even know if I feel like buying the stuff after all they've put me thru. Three weeks of yes/no.
Iamasound, the shop is on the west coast... But I don't know, maybe we could ship it to Sarasota still. Knowing that there are dedicated services, it's maybe better than I don't bother you with gear import troubles...

As small clarification, it’s www.myus.com, that lets you have a US address and ship internationally. myusaddress.ca/ ships from US to Canada. We are still trying to establish if it ships elsewhere, internationally.

Brexit ruined us for buying from Europe as people can’t be bothered with the forms and the gear gets stuck at customs sometimes for months. I used to buy so much from Germany and Eastern European countries.

lowlou, I've shipped plenty with myus.com It works really well. You can even settle your customs charges before hand, although I tend to do mine locally through my business.
