The only problem with EV is that he makes it look so easy! He has a great set of ears and deep understanding. I really like his production and mixing. Very talented guy. I feel very fortunate that he gives us a glimpse behind the curtain of his mixes. I also really liked his studio build. That was on a level I will never have but it was great to watch it take shape.

It's really unfortunate that Spencer is gone... I really loved that little EP, I actually checked it out because I knew Eric had worked on it (I had no idea he did so much on it though). I was wondering why Spencer hadn't blown up and done more music, all the stuff was great. Seemed like he kind of dropped off the earth, now we know why. Sounds like there's a lot of unfinished music they worked on, hopefully that gets released in some form.

Pardon my ignorance, but this is the first I had heard of Spencer Lee. Damn. What happened?

Pardon my ignorance, but this is the first I had heard of Spencer Lee. Damn. What happened? Eric mentioned in the video that he died of an overdose and had been battling that for a while. Pretty par for course in that neck of the woods…

Just wanted to share this with you guys! Great audio dude🤟🏻 For my taste the kick (and to a lesser degree the kit) is too loud in this mix - very cool music though I love the singer and the vibe of the music. Does Eric Valentine mix ITB?

He has made some videos on it, he was using a multi bus passive summing system that was the inspiration for the UTA pyra-sum. I guess now he’s maybe just using a pyra-sum!

Wow that’s one of the best voices I’ve heard in a long time and a super cool song that doesn’t feel so over the top like so many artists today.

Too bad Spencer had addiction problems, he was so young and talented and had his whole life to go on the edge of starting a successful career.
Eric used his unfairchild on the music and yes, he does use his pyramix summing box. So many great videos that have oodles of great info on how he works, what a great talent. He explains in the later part of the video regarding his setup and routing.

If I had more time I’d watch a bunch of ev33 videos. I like how he doesn’t cork sniff. Mixes with abandon. Wrangle the sound quickly into what you want with a tool that’s not fussy and gets the result, and move on.

One of the few who got into the big club without having his soul crushed by the machine.

Man, that’s heartbreaking news.
Back in 2018, I was almost commissioned to produce a video for Spencer’s song “The Wolf.” Immediately loved the song, sent in a mockup, but management ultimately went in a different creative direction. But man, that song was definitely one of my favorite things that ever got sent my way. It was totally awesome when I found out years later that Eric produced it. Somehow my ears always gravitate toward his sound.
RIP Spencer. What an incredible talent.

Eric is an amazing all round record guy with SO much soul. He should have a label funded by Paul Allen or another super rich music lover. His work is too good to not be heard. He understands the fundamental truth of great recordings. Fact.
