A friend is going overseas for a while and wants to take a guitar and mic with her to capture ideas. She doesn't need anything fancy, at most 2x2 I/O with the inputs being mic input and line inputs, etc. Computer will be a windows laptop.
While a bunch of features aren't necessary, decent sound and latency are. Preferably something more rugged than the average interface since it'll probably be in a backpack a lot.
Cost should be as low as possible, up to around 300$.
I'm looking at the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2.. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Doesn't sound cloudy like some things I've used. I imagine the 2i2 is of the same ilk.

I thought the Scarlet was great. Wouldn't be scared to use it at all.

Thinking about getting one of these so I can record some stuff downstairs...I have high ceilings downstairs and have wanted to try it out for a while...I guess I could always get a breakout box and just run super long cables. My studio is upstairs and I would probably have to fish a cable more than a hundred feet. Just feels like a pain in the ass.
