I'd say just do what works. There's no reason to worry about what others think about your patchbay unless you're building a public studio.

I've used Redco and the front-switching Switchcraft TT bays in the past. With my new setup, went with Bittree TT's. Not as easy to switch, IMO, as the Switchcraft but similar to Redco and the quality is ridiculously good.

btw, I haven't had intermittent with my TRS patchbays as long as I periodically put some Caig Deoxit D100L in there (I put it on a cable and then insert in all the jacks maybe once a year just to keep them from oxidizing) . before I did that then had a few problems. Have to do the back side too though and that's a PITA.
