I don't see a problem with it if people want to listen. The fact that Spotify is behind it and putting it on their playlists is sketchy for sure, but having a single artist put our music as multiple artists seems OK to me. People are either going to listen or hit skip. I've done similar. Not with that type of success though. Obviously. LOL. And there's the real issue. Spotify gaming the system. They can just do it "easier" with multiple "unknown" artists than doing the exact same thing with known artists.

Some of those labels and their owners have stake in Spotify too and Spotify pays less to the artist than other label revenue streams in outmoded, signed years ago music contracts and the streaming services are essentially a cartel endorsed by the us government’s mandated pricing and all lose money on paper but their owners are millionaires. fishy economics and business practices that look like a scam are a scam but unfortunate we live in a scam economy largely dominated by financial services with billionaires who get wealthy from the government giving them our tax dollars through loopholes

I use Bandcamp too, but they don't pay streaming royalties at all. Technically they limit listening to a song 3x, but anyone that know how to clear cookies also knows how to defeat that system... um, did I just say that? Oops. So yeah, more "free" music, unless you know anyone that still buys downloads and CDs (not many left even though Bandcamp tries to convince us there is).

Ok, but peeps are supposed to download the bandcamp app and play their purchases through it! FWIW, Bandcamp was recently sold and laid off half their staff. I’m guessing as time goes on, they’re going to be less and less artist friendly. I still release originals on Bandcamp, but I have a massive pile of covers coming down the line, which aren’t allowed on Bandcamp.

I use Bandcamp too, but have over the years bought nearly 700 releases through them - partly to support the artists, but also because the uncompressed downloads (I choose FLAC, as its typically 50% of WAV file size) sound just SO much better and more detailed than the 128kbps MP3 Bandcamp streamed format. bandcamp.com/martin-walkerOh, and I still refuse to open a Spotify account on principle Martin
