I’m buying a 441, actually probably a 541 I saw for a great price. Anything I need to know? Any difference in old vs new? Are there different generations that are more sought after? Did they change the magnets at any point like in the 421?
I don’t know much about these mics other than that I’ve really loved how they sound the 2-3 times I’ve used them.
Thanks in advance

I have a Sennheiser MD 441 U that sounds great on tenor saxophone. Need to get it out of the locker and play into it some more.
Sounds great close-miking straight to my bell.

Thanks in advance All 441s and 541s I’ve used have sounded quite similar. Nothing like white 421s vs newer ones which sound like completely different mics. Love 441s on snare, toms and vocals

Thanks guys, just pulled the trigger on a 541 I saw on reverb. It may just end up replacing both my Beyer m88 and my trusty 421

The thing about the 441 line is they will do anything well from Vocals to H/H to Kick - that's a serious range right there. Cheers, Ross

For me, there’s two mics that have ALWAYS delivered very good to excellent results on ANY source: the 441 and the Beyer M160.

Wouldn’t mind having 1-2 more, that’s for sure. It hasn’t replaced my m88 just bc I love the m88 thing, but the 441/541 is really special.

I think of of the M88/441/541 mics as the "Pin Ups" for lesser Treated Rooms. Not_quite_an M88, but the AKG D770/790's are cool on a budget. Or for Live Performance. No way I'd leave a 441/M88 around on a Stage! Chris P.S. Shout out for Beyer M201 too.

I used one in Brooklyn a bunch of years ago on an all day guitar overdub session. I'm still confused on the hype.

More 441 and M88 love here. I used my newly acquired 441 in place of the m88 on a VO the other day, happy to have another flavor of awesome dynamic. Fun fact, the M88 foam windscreen works well on the 441.
