I'm a huge pop punk fan. If you're not much into that sort of thing, just give this one a try. It's better than any Green Day album you'll ever hear. It raises the maturity and musicianship level up to a very respectable level. It is also the most natural and organic recordings I have ever heard without stooping to celebrated shittiness that punk has a tendency to do so. Did I mention Andy Wallace mixed it? I wanted to make a post here slagging dubstep as the ONLY genre that has absolutely nothing to offer. I do feel that way. I don't hear anything there that stands out. Pretty much every genre whether it's my thing or not has some real gems. Heck since joining this forum I have heard some extremely well done country music (not my thing usually) that I would listen to amongst the rest of my playlists. Here's what I would consider a crown jewel.
Pop punk at it's ultimate best:
Punk at it's ultimate best:
It would be pretty cool if the next guy puts the very best of what he considers a genre they would consider to be there "main" genre.
Cheers

am very much into future of the left currently.
as far as engineers go anything that comes from albinis electrical audio tends to end up in my record collection prior to me realising it was recorded at electrical audio.

Reminds me of Randy and to a lesser extent maybe the Matches!

I had a look at a randy video online.
I do believe that's a travis bean that's being used.
my music partner uses an egc among other guitars he has. that is a sweet sweet guitar.

I'm not into dubstep at all, but this is a really well done cover of THE quintessential dubstep song. I can at least respect this...
Keeping loosely in the punk theme, here is some killer Post-Punk. The Pretty Girls Make Graves album Good Health is something that I really love. I don't really like a lot of rock guitar playing, but this stuff is just awesome. The two guitars really weave in and out across the album. Fantastic stuff. Enjoy.

loving the randy stuff...... Good to hear. I've produced / engineered / mixed most of their records. I'll tell Johan, the bass player to come on board. He's been working with me at my studio for 12 years. He's a fantastic engineer. He also builds amazing U47 mics.

well it's a seriously small world then. that's cool........
do we have the first RGO engineer Q&A topic? i'd love to hear your thoughts on tracking mixing etc. especially how you get your vocals to sit the way they do.... the guitar sound you get is awesome as well...... so much to talk about.

I did one or two Refused records. Not the "one" though. I did most of the Hives releases.
Fu Manchu - ..opened for them with my band on a looong tour back in '96.

I'm going to go with Coral Fang by The Distillerss today.
Grade 9 science teacher told me to buy that instead of Blink 182. She was half right both are great.
