Introducing Version 2 of our MPF-500 Mic Preamp for 500 seriesIn 1980, Deane Jensen wrote a paper in the Journal of the Audio Engineering Society that introduced his renowned 990 Discrete Opamp. Within the paper, Jensen proposed a straightforward design for a microphone preamp, which involved using a single 990 discrete opamp in conjunction with two Jensen transformers. This design was highly effective and resulted in one of the most transparent mic preamps available. Our MPF-500 is designed based on this circuit with several added features. Features:- 60dB of total gain
- Variable high-pass filter (20Hz – 1kHz)
- Hi-Z JFET input using a Toshiba 2SK170
- 990 discrete opamp
- Jensen transformers
- Custom-made potentiometer
- 20dB pad switch
- Polarity reverse switch
The V2 uses our brand-new custom-made potentiometer! We worked closely with our manufacturer to design a taper curve that is specifically tailored to our MPF-500 circuit. The result is the smoothest gain adjustment we have ever experienced with a mic preamp. The potentiometer is fully sealed and has a lifespan of 2 million cycles, ensuring trouble-free operation for years to come! The MPF-500 V2 is available now at a special intro price of $599 CAD.For more information, please click here. Best regards, CHAMBORD AUDIO
