Thanks for sharing this, copperx. I've been listening to this record for more years than I care to say, and am always taken by how beautifully it was recorded.

I'm always glad to celebrate Kind of Blue. It's a beautiful work.
That said, I will not be buying that book. Too much meandering in the writing.

I've been feeling Kind of Blue. My therapist says I have Mild Davis.

So the article says they all used Telefunken U-49 mics, with two used on the drum kit and all the others having one.
Does the author mean a Telefunken U-47 or a Neumann M49?
I know the 47 had both badges from Telefunken and Neumann, but I have never heard of a 49 from Telefunken.

I saw U49 and quickly skimmed through the rest of the article. Not much in there for the nerdy engineer, no telling what else was accurate in there… But, I haven’t listened to this album straight through in a while, will definitely do that tonight or tomorrow!

I've been feeling Kind of Blue. My therapist says I have Mild Davis. I told him I have no idea how it all started. He replied "So what".

I wasn't going to say it but you did -- and echoed my thoughts exactly. thank you. I much prefer a straight documentary and the style of this writing is waaaayyy to "fluffy" for me. and I know it's from a different album, but if you listen really close to the first few seconds of Bye Bye Blackbird, I swear that's a scratchy (rotary) fader that makes a sorta "swish" sound in there...?

They used M49s all over the place on Kind of Blue.
