I just finished building a CAPI LC25 kit yesterday. I had read about CAPI EQs on RGO for a while, and bought a kit when they came back in stock. The build was about the same difficulty as the Hairball FET/500 that I built recently. The assembly of the components onto the faceplate felt like a puzzle. I put in an unused GAR AM10 op amp in the interim. I have GAR1731 and CA-0252 kits that I still need to finish off. I will see which one works best for me in this circuit. I think the LC25 will speed up my EQ workflow on drums. The fixed frequencies and 2dB steps make it simple to EQ kick and snare in the limited time that I play around with the EQ. I liked boosting 800Hz on distorted guitar too. I’m still getting used to the highest frequency bands.

This looks so nice! Well done. I've built a couple of Micparts microphones and a mic power supply before. But their kits come with the ultimate hand-holding manual lol. How long did this take you?

This looks so nice! Well done. I've built a couple of Micparts microphones and a mic power supply before. But their kits come with the ultimate hand-holding manual lol. How long did this take you? The step by step instructions on the CAPI site are good. The layout of the PCB makes it look all neat, and components are spaced out. All of their kits come out looking nice. capi-gear.com/catalog/Build_LC25-40_Rev_A.phpI spent about a week, working for half an hour at a time. I divided the days by components: first the mini op amp, then resistors, then capacitors, ICs/transformers, etc. The hardest part would be to put together an API-style op amp if you go the DIY route. Those builds really humbled me.

Nice, I just did the lc25 and an lc40 Cool. How did you like the LC40 frequency choices vs the LC25?

Soldering these really tight connections for a sustained period of time induces a strange internal stress. Always rewarding when it actually works though!

Nicely done! I've built a lot of the CAPI options, including 3 LC25s and 1 LC40. I much prefer the 25 frequency options, but the lone 40 is certainly nice.
Anybody concerned with the opamp builds should really consider the CAPI CA-0252. I think they are a bit more simple than the 2520 or 1731, but they seem to sound just as good. I'm switching all my opamps over to the 0252s. I buy a lot of those 0252 kits and just assemble them in groups of 2 or 3, often right before I do a bigger kit. Its just so I can get warmed up, so to speak.
