So, core audio and DB-25 outputs work but I can't get any input to the Carbon. I've asked Avid and using the combo jacks then a DB-25 out is fine but it's not all that great if I can't record anything. In Pro Tools under the hardware section it isn't picking up the Carbon, I'm on Mac so I've gone into audio / midi and enabled AVB, it of course has an IP address because core audio works, also the encoder / input is set to line in. Not sure if there's something simple I've missed here?

Did you do a recent update? They recently had the Sonoma update for OSX

Try installing Carbon Central and enable it as the primary device?

Try installing Carbon Central and enable it as the primary device? That’s a good idea. I read that if you get another device like the Pre8 or another Carbon to install Carbon Central. I haven’t bothered installing it, and until I expand this system I probably won’t bother, however I now have some issues with my EuControl iPad control stop working.

Did you boot up the interface before turning on the computer? You’d be surprised by this, I have actually done this and it wouldn’t work and I got weird issues. Re-boot try again and make sure it goes through all startup light display and you hear the relays and the hardware posts. Let’s start at the easiest thing it could be

Try installing Carbon Central and enable it as the primary device? Way ahead of ya.. First thing I did.

They recently had the Sonoma update for OSX I'm on Ventura 13.5, on a side note I might not be able to record anything but the SSL BS / Carbon / Dyn 59 combo has to be the most impressive setup I've heard and I've been in some very expensive studio's before. Maybe Nashville might knock that out of me but, damn I'm impressed..

Im still on Monterey 12.3, lol Yeah, I’m very impressed with this interface. The only issue I had with it is, I bought it too soon and it wasn’t compatible with my M1 yet. I had to wait for Avid to come out with a fix to be M1 compatible. The only issue I have right now is my EuControl quit working and it’s probably because I didn’t upgrade my OSX. For an All-In-One interface it’s quite impressive. I’m sure the Core 59’s are making it an even more delightful experience. The Carbon actually made a noticeable improvement in the sound of my old early 90’s Genelec monitors!😆

For an All-In-One interface it’s quite impressive. The SSL Big Six just adds a massive width to whatever gets put through it, also add in the crazy phantom center of the Dyn's.. I tried the Carbon by itself and I was like hmm okay, it's the epitomy of transparent though which is great when you pass it through or send it through other stuff (it's on of those things where you'd have to be here to get it). As for the fix, well I'm in touch with Avid as well they're suggesting a full factory reset via dim. I'll try it tomorrow and see where we are..

Since they were bought out they seem to have a fresh outlook on pleasing their customers. I think they are finally starting to wake up a little, let’s hope you can get that resolved soon and be up and running!

I know this is supposed to be about the Carbon but I'm sat here and all I want is a couple of Core sub's. LOL.! Yeah it's for my own enjoyment cause nobody's going to hear what those mammoth's sound like bar the uber ATC and Dyn crowd but still.. There's worse ways to spend your money I guess ..

It's working, full factory reset via dim button and then a fresh setup in Pro Tools Ultimate did the job, bit of an odd concept if you haven't used one. Essentially Pro Tools is the interface control software, everything is setup from there and not in HW either. You set the playback engine then control the I/O, whereas with most interfaces you'd set it up in the HW tab. Not sure how you could use this third party, you'd need Pro Tools to set it up.

I/O was pretty fixed on those though.

I was working in Studio One 6 with a friend and we were testing out that collaboration mode. Carbon works flawlessly with Studio One 6 and Logic X, however I had to fire up Protools to change my sample rate because the project we were working on was in 44.1 and my interface was set to 48.
