What are some good desk and tabletop mic stands? I don't necessarily need a boom now but a boom will be helpful. I mainly use ev635a and re16 right now but I want it to be able to hold heavier mics in the future.
I'm looking at:
K&M 23325 (looks good and K&M is solid) K&M 25995 (could be unstable but has a built in boom)
Audix STANDKD (quality unknown but looks like a tank) Gator (looks lightweight but recommended to me)

I have this on my desk: On-Stage MS7920B it’s not as nice or as solid as a K&M. It’s been fine for light duty usage. Just don’t over tighten anything! I’ve had to fix a bunch of the on-stage stands in my gig bag. If you plan on swapping mics a lot maybe go for the K&M the threads are much nicer on the mic mount.

That looks a lot like the audix one. Which K&M would you go for? Circular heavy one or lightweight one with built in boom. I'll be taking the mic down regularly.

I’ve owned the cheap On-Stage versions (~$15) of the K&M 23325 for years. There’s so few parts that can go bad on them, and the K&M is probably even more robust. You are just limited to its lack of flexibility with positioning.
I’ve used them with pencil mics, kick mics, and shock-mounted LDCs with no problem. The heights useable for desktop positions, combo amps, and workable in a pinch on kick drums.

I own a Gator Frameworks Boom GFWMICBCBM3000 and (2) Desktop telescoping GFWMIC0822
Solid and versatile for every use I’ve put them through. Even used the telescoping as a floor mic for stage use playing tenor saxophone.
Purchased mine B-Stock on the Gator website.

I’d go for one with a boom for adjustability, plus you can always take it off. And I agree with bikescene the on-stage has worked fine for me as an sm7b desk stand.

Used the gator for years as desk mic. Just got another one to clamp to piano for piano vocal mic.
It is kinda light weight but never had any issues.
