What kind of country are we talking about?
While methodology is always context dependent, I find myself more often than not doing bass DI through either a BAE 1073 or an Avedis MA5, followed by an API 550A boosting hi and low shelf into an LA2A or LA3A if I want it tight and bright or Pultec into an RS124 if its flatwounds and I want da thump.

The song has a similar feel to Dan/Shay Save Me The Trouble, but slower pace. What I hear for bass line there is similar to what I am trying to accomplish.

I watched the video of the song you are chasing, and I can’t really tell over the phone.. but my gut instinct the bassist is using a pedal.
It’s a deep rabbit hole, my buddy has been there a few years. (I think he likes dark glass?). The utility one in this vid might be the ticket? At least maybe give some ideas on how to get there with your current setup (edit: this guy pushes the gain, - I should have found a video where it’s backed off)

I am always surprised by how much hi pass I have to do on DI bass Cheers Wiz Not surprising, there is always so much LF crap that a mic’ed up cab will naturally cut off.

Good call Eric, this is probably why I’ve gotten good results micing studio monitor as a bass amp.
Also it plays into this topic: You record direct, then solo it and mic up the monitor. On the monitor, I might add a distortion and adjust to get a good midrange grind.
After recording, now you have 2 tracks.. zoom in to see their waveforms are lined up, or more importantly in phase. If not drag the new one to match.
Now you can blend both faders to taste: clean DI and dirty “amp”
