i have used and abused waves kramer tape as my main distorted slapback delay vocal effect. you can hear it in this song:
its perfect because you can crunch it up and gives me a cool roomy sound but i have given up waves plugins completely. so i try to recreate this effect with other plugins. but i only have logics tape delay and softube delay. a combination of those and a distortion plugin gets me close but not close enough … which delay plugins are out there that could get me closer?

Echboy has a saturation section built in, so it might speed up your workflow.

Having used Kramer a lot, I think the closest thing I have found is the IK Tape Delay. It’s not that it’s particularly awesome or anything, but it does do that general sound pretty much out of the gate.

With Dan no longer here, I'll be the one to mention u-he Satin. It's brilliant, and has a couple delay options.
Also FabFilter Timeless can do it.
And I've been meaning to check out Waves Factory's Echo Cat - the demos sound good.

I like FF Timeless, D16 Repeater, and Echoboy.

UAD ATR-102 is a nice slap if you are in that universe. EchoBoy with all of its different emulations and saturation really covers a lot of ground. I’ve been using the PSP Lexicon 42 a bit as well.
But, honestly, EchoBoy for as old as it is can be hard to beat

I am going to echo what other people have said here , Echoboy and even echoboy jr are my go-to for tape delays. Many saturation and stereo panning options there, it's really a great plugin.

I’ll second(or 5th?) echo boy, but yeah, UAD Ampex does some cool stuff too even though it’s a lot of processing power for a slapback.

Ep-34 in the UAD world sounds exactly like the crappy reel to reel I keep next to my desk for tape echo/slap. I also use the Galaxy Tape Echo and the ATR-102.
But honestly, depending on what I'm going for the EP-34 often wins. It's got that rockabilly thing nailed. Instant Nebraska.

The only time I used EchoBoy anymore is if I need 1/4 vs 1/4T or different delays side to side. For that it's easy and I'll use it. Otherwise it's EchoFarm 85% of the time, and the rest of my delays get used the last 15%.

There's a new Strymon plug out too but I haven't tried it.

There's a lot of good options but - i have been using the stock Logic tape delay plugin for that quite often.
