I'm working on a song that calls for this kind of reverb, but I can't put my finger on it.
I think I hear a tube mic through an 1176, a plate reverb and a delay.
What kind of plate does it sound like? A real one? A Lexicon? Bricasti? Any ideas to get that kind of blend?
Any pointers? Thanks!

It sounds like a very long plate with low feedback. It's probably ducked a little during the actual vocal parts.
EDIT: found some QA with the engineer and he said it was a 251 in figure 8. Reverb was lexicon 224 small hall with RT turned up to 35.

EDIT:
After a bit of googling it looks like Craig Alvin ( lordalvin ) answered that question right on RGO! Also, I was far off the mark with the 1176. It was a Fairchild on the voice.

Yeah sounds like a 224 or 480 with the mid decay cranked

Sounds like it was recorded on a Tuesday, for some reason. Maaaaaaaaybe a Wednesday, but I don't think so.

Different artist, but that tune and reverb sound reminded me of this track. I absolutely love the depth of this track.

On figure 8, the proximity effect is actually higher than for cardioid. It could have been a case where the mic sounded good, but needed more low end, which makes sense. The 251 is notorious for being good on airy female vocals, but it's also a naturally little light on the bottom end.

Frequency response changes a lot on multipatern microphone depending on the pattern. M49V and u67 are the same way.

I think Craig (Alvin) has said he just thought it sounded better.

That's the first think I noticed, then the mid push with little highs or lows

Does it pick up many room reflections? Or is that not much of a problem?
