I want to actually take a look at the Neve 8424, since I own all the outboard, and pre's I will ever need, it might be a perfect fit for my new joint.
That said, I'm probably going to make an appointment with VK in Nashville.
Was wondering if anyone here has used their "console demo" service, and what to expect? Do they give you a brief rundown, and leave you alone in the room for a while, or will someone hover over you? What's the deal? Anyone know.

I know it sounds stupid, but it’s a small thing that will make them work harder because they know you’re serious. A few years ago, I was going to be driving through Nashville and wanted to check out the API Box Console and the brand new (at the time) Footprint 01’s. I emailed and they said they had both, so I set up an appointment and booked a hotel room for the night instead of driving strait through. When I got there, none of it was there… Apparently there was some gear expo with Blackbird or someone and a lot of stuff was over there that week. Pretty frustrating, and I was civil about it but a little pissed. I had every intention of walking out of there with at least the speakers, and told the sales guys that. It seemed like they have a ton of people booking demos that just don’t show up, so I got the “call us” lecture from them. Apparently that helps… Im not trying to crap on Vintage King or anything. They’ve been good to me over the years, and the sales people in store were all extremely knowledgeable and pretty much just left me alone and told me I could do whatever I wanted when they realized I wasn’t an idiot. The more personalized you get is going to help with demoing something like that, so I would recommend giving someone a call and making sure you know who’s going to be there that day and what exactly you want to do.

I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts after demoing the 8424
