There’s a mono 500 series compressor as well.

I rented their pre and comp a while back compared to my Daking and stam gear, can’t say I was impressed , thought veiled and unclear.
Would never buy.

No reference to the units in the original post but the ART pro MPA and VLA are perfectly good units for $250 each
I would never directly compare them to Stam or other higher end more expensive units what's the point? They are not similar
I spent another $250 each to have mine modded by Revive and I'm keeping them in the rack next to the STam 73 preqs. To each his own.

The ART stuff is great for the money. I have a pro VLA II and punches above it's price point, which is the price of an expensive plugin. Agree with Matt, even better when modded out.

VLA II was a decent one and after a simple $30 in parts mod made big differences in the stock circuit. I did a input transformer mod with it with UTC transformers I had laying around, which gave it more headroom to drive it. But I'm thinking the $35 edcor transformer equivalent would do the same thing just as well. Even though you can find at times, Utc A-20 or Stancore WF-30 reasonably to pick up, but they are going to be used and you don't know how they were used or abused. Which is one thing to consider when you buy used transformers. Or even doing mods on someone else's unit.
