Yeah, first I got super excited when I saw these. I’m yet undecided on what I think of heritage as a brand, I hear people like them. But I thought this i73 would be right down my alley. ‘Til I saw that the model with a pair of ch3-4 i/o was 1500+euro. Nowhere could I find either who is making the actual interface, what converters do they use…You can sure crum in the -73 into a 500 series… but that looks like its pretty tight??? I’m not sure what to think… intrigued but… How many companies spell out all that stuff in their marketing? Some might name drop a converter company, but you don't know most of the workings anyhow. Heritage is now under the RAD Distribution umbrella. So they are working with BLA and several other pro audio companies that I'm sure are having certain things cross developed. I'm guessing they have circuit boards done up to a spec and it's assembled in Spain. Interesting, didn’t know they were part of rad. Well then it’s a no go for me. Had some products from both bla and gap and will never touch anything that might be connected to them, or share business concept. All I got from them was either doa or crapped out on me in very short time, poor craftsmanship and zero customer service.

This is the kind of customer service I would have expected back then, but was let down. Thanks for your concern 👍

Someone new entering the interface with dedicated DSP powered plugins always scares me because you never really know how long they are going to support it. While I understand everyone wanting to think a desktop interface is portable, not really, think of how much you would have to spend on a custom case to protect it. For the $ I have to admit the idea of a separate Neve 2ch pre and UAD solo looks much more attractive as an investment: 2 choices of pre amp, a system designed to grow in either the analog or digital world, I can keep my plugins and grow, established plugin format. I can bring the cost down going used. 2 headphone outs is a nice feature if they each have their own separate amp and level controls, ever plugged a second pair of phones into a Y cable while listening to the first? It doesn’t matter if the split is on the PCB or a y cable. Custom case?
Just shove it in the original box and chuck it in the car, I mean they on occasion they manage to get to the other side of the world without issues and I don't trust delivery drivers to handle with care. Modern interfaces are pretty damn rugged, my MOTU's been down a flight of stairs and once or twice it has been stacked on top of an amp for a live room recording. It's a tank is that thing, I've had it what a decade?!
Ironically it's most live mixers that scare me, you sneeze in their general direction and they tend to stop working.
Ha, you do know that boxes and shipping materials are rated for 1 transport right! Granted it might fit in one of my Seahorse cases. Do remember I spent a significant part of my professional life next to a service dept. Unlike most I have seen so many sheared pots that I became the case guy. For those that have never joined us this is the typical banter on one of Danny’s group chats. We are like brothers across the pond we can disagree but still share the love.

Damn right we are, gotta have some banter to keep things interesting. However we do tend to agree on pretty much most things and I've certainly learned quite a bit from you, it's actually nice to differ for once so we can get the banter rolling ..
Anyway on the i73, 1073 style amps and DSP is cool. I did notice there were some amp VST's which are hopefully DSP compatible which is interesting, out of all of these new interfaces the thing that would sell me the most is DSP compatible instruments. Even my old 2019 MBP can run 50 plugs (I'm being conservative here) at low latencies, that's a mix of like TDR, Spark & DAW native. Convolution verbs (or anything of that ilk) is a bit heavier but I go with a board layout (one or two verb aux's) when possible not to overdo it..
Instrument VSTI's though continue to be the bane of my existence (yes that is a bit over dramatic), I can get what? Six or eight going if I'm very lucky. Then it's freeze time, once again an open VST DSP platform is the last frontier, that would need collaboration between DAW's, manufacturers and plugin dev's though so I'll not hold my breathe.

I hope this is a win for heritage, but it seems like the interface market is very crowded. I was hoping NAMM 2024 would show heritage releasing the ha-81a mkII with led meters and a new britstrip with the 81 eq.
