Built during the '60s and 70s, an insane amount of all-time great records were recorded and mixed through Sound Techniques consoles. In the end they stopped production- but the brand has been resurrected.
I'm looking for something unusual/unique to add to my selection of preamps, and this re-imagining of the line in channel strip form looks very intriguing.
It's available here:

I'm intrigued by them, for sure. And If I hit the lottery, I'm going to LA to work on the console to see if I should buy one.

I use one, love it on anything that needs full bandwith top to bottom clear(ish) resolution. It's like a magnifying glass, especially in the highend. The yin to my ca70 yang. Had three at a certain point, I still have one now. Purely down to me prefering my coils on most things, had nothing to do with the quality of the ST at all. Amazing on vocals or anything acoustic that you want to cut through a mix.
Let me know if you have any questions. As far as customer support goes, Danny has been amazing.

Does it have really high end parts at that price point?

Does it have really high end parts at that price point? As far as i can tell, very much so.. Very solid build inside and sealed Elma switches.

Thanks for the info, I'm considering a pair to use not only as mic pres but also as inserts during mix and possibly even on the 2-bus to take advantage of what looks like a very flexible EQ.

I did this for a while with my pair, works really well. The low end and high end bands are detented. The boost and cut overlapping in the highs makes it great for tailoring the high frequencies of a mix. It made everything sound a little more expensive, console-ish, if that makes sense. Quite a unique sound.

I've been using an API 5500 on the 2-bus but recently moved it to kick and snare duty, where it will live for now. So I need a replacement EQ (or EQs) when mixing, and console-ish is exactly what I'm looking for!

I had a Sound Techniques yellow Sunset Sound channel here and enjoyed it. I purchased it from Danny. It was well built with excellent parts quality and excellent sound. Not thick like Neve--instead very extended high freq. response and very dynamic. Brought a beautiful tone to recordings. So I would recommend it. Danny provides excellent communication. A unique company resurrection.
Would LUV to hear their new console.

Big yes.. love them.I have 2 The yellow sunset ones Pretty much what everyone else is saying different to Neve Coil etc. open ..musical.. big deep ,musical eq. by far my favorite DI for direct keys and gtrs. listen to Lou Reeds Transformer if you want to hear the vibe they impart. I think there might be a 4 channel pre only version in the works. Clay is having a NAMM open house this week at his studio Boulevard Recording in LA showing off his brand new console i.postimg.cc/tTDxznq3/IMG-7938.jpg

Weirdly Geoff Frost kept all his gear in a lock up locally here until his son cleared it out with a friend who got some goodies.

open ..musical.. big deep ,musical eq. Thanks, perfect, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Ordering a pair.
Your picture will download but it is in Apple's .heic format, which appears to not display as an image on this site.
I'd love to make it out to NAMM but I have a prior commitment. Next year!

I find this image righteously beautiful in a sort of "future retro" way. Thanks for uploading!

I don't remember, is the Sunset version different in any way but the faceplate color?

I don't remember, is the Sunset version different in any way but the faceplate color? I don't think so. I've watched the YouTube video linked here and I don't think they mention any difference- but I might have missed it. Just might have to watch it again!
Sunset's YT channel also has long interviews with Paul Wolff (API, Tonelux), Joe Chiccarelli, Mike Piersante, and many others. Great stuff!

They're the same.. I had both the sunset sound one and a more recent one.. opened them both up. The pcb lay out may have been a bit different, don't remember, but the insides seemed the same. Sound is also the same.. that probably matters quite a bit

Thanks, good to hear it. It would be a bit strange if they were different beyond the face plate.
