Search came up empty. Seems kinda cool. I personally hate miking the underside of snare cuz it's a massive PITA in my setup. Demo sounds pretty convincing for dialing in just a bit of rattle off the toms. I'm gonna try it cuz it's free, anyone else use this? www.wavesfactory.com/free-audio-plugins/snarebuzz/

They have a few freebies that I want to try. I saw Larry Crane from Tape Op was using the sub bass drum one, and maybe this one too.

A friend recommended this to me and I was kinda skeptical cuz, well let's just say we have different taste! But honestly it looks simple and cool. I can't figure out how it works though. They say "psycho acoustic" effect which to me is code for "weird phasey stuff that you'll hate later". I guess it doesn't really matter as much in this case since it would be buried in the mix.

That does make me wonder. Maybe it means that a 'synthesized' sound makes that the listener think it's snare buzz, but that's not really what they are hearing. An audio trick? Either way, I plan to download all of the freebies.

I honestly can't imagine a scenario for using Snarebuzz with real drum recordings. I just assumed it was for use with programmed/sampled drums where the samples were recorded in isolation, but you want to try to fool someone. I certainly don't record the snare bottom to get buzz or rattle. If I'm doing it, it's more to get a snappier/splattier sound (to mix with the top) vs rattling of the snares (but maybe I'm doing it all wrong ).
