And I seem to always reach for a plate over a chamber

I've had it for years but it's never been on any final mixes. I want to like it, but I just never use it. We all have our go-to reverbs and this isn't one of mine. Maybe after the next session I will mess with it and see if I like it any better. I think the bigger issue is that I just don't use a ton of reverb. I know a lot of indie pop is drowning everything in reverb but that's never been appealing to me.

I find myself using Capitol Chambers a lot for the "long" chamber sound, and Seventh Heaven for the Bricasti chambers like the Sunset and A&M which are nice for "shorter" chamber sounds. The Hitsville does the short chamber well, which can sound cool on percussion in particular. Need to spend some more time experimenting with that one.
But, the Atlantis was nice when I demo'd it but a bit pricey (I guess?) but I've been pretty blown away with the Liquid Sonic stuff. A lot of it is a bit tweaky but Seventh Heaven is instantly rewarding. Since getting it I've been using it for Chamber and Room.

I just got Atlantis in a Holiday sale a couple weeks ago. Haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I really, really liked some of the demos I watched/heard. I'm also a big LiquidSonics guy (Reverberate3, Lustrous Plates, the Slate/LiquidSonic thing, and especially Cinematic Rooms), and probably lean on those more than anything else, but something about Atlantis really made me sit up and take notice. I'm looking forward to getting into it in the weeks ahead.

I just haven’t felt like there were many things in the genres I’m doing that I find myself using it on. It’s does that big Sinatra era chamber stuff better than pretty much anything else out there…I just don’t find myself needing that much.

As a Stockholmer I have worked at Atlantis many times since the 80s and know the sound of both their chamber and EMT plate well. Love both. They do have two chambers but have used only one of them for a long time, so really cool that Softtube "sampled" both. As a side note, in the 70s one of the sound signatures of Metronome Records, the original studio owner, was using one chamber panned hard left for use on sources panned hard right and vice versa, hence the two chambers.
As John mention it really fits old school production style very well and of course any music that calls for a big vibey sounding chamber. I mix a lot of jazz so I use it from time to time, though never with clients who don't want the retro style.
Another side note is that I recently talked to the current engineer who helped the Softtube team. During beta testing he did some A/B and said that he could just barely tell which was which when listening to solo'ed sources but in a mix it was impossible to tell the difference between plug in and the real thing. So good job Softube.

Lots of background vocals, ooo’s and ahh’s, strings, and sometimes as the main reverb on a lead vocals if it’s a ballad. Otherwise I thibk it works best just feeding certain words to it. I always start with “The One” preset.

My prior opinions posted here haven't changed. This is one of the best reverb plugins ever made in my view. Atlantis and Inspirata are the big ones for me. I use stuff like Capitol Chambers, SP2016, and Seventh Heaven Pro to supplement. Maybe I'll try to find new ways of using the SP2016 given Dan's recent comments on it.

But for those times when my usual dryness isn't cutting it, or I need space I find these sampled spaces interesting. I have Capital and Ocean Way, and I use OW more. I've almost always dialed back the highs on reverb.

The reflections are awesome and second best compared to the Bricasti M7 ime, which I cannot afford. SP2016 is port of the Princeton 2016 reverb, one of the last major hardware reverbs along with the Bricasti, so it has to sound good. The plug should still be a little different because it uses standard floating point code while the princeton ran 24-bit fixed point dsp and the 80s hardware 16-bit, the plug runs at 39khz like the 80s hardware instead of 40khz like the 2000s hardware, and of course the hardware and modern dsp chips do not have the mathematical limitations of the 80s verbs. That's why the UAD and Relab Lexicons sound off.
Of course the SP2016 tails are the SP2016 tails and it either works or doesn't work... The good thing is they are not modulated. The bad thing is they are not modulated.

The demo videos sound cool. Tsar1 is also a sick reverb. It gets the dark 80s and 90s dialogue tone down better than the Relab and UAD Lexicons.

By far, my most used reverb is TSAR1. It would be nearly perfect if they added a pre-reverb EQ to it. In my case, I always have an EQ before it to cut the lows and highs. It's a bit too dense and heavy without EQ (or as an insert) but as a send effect, it's really great. I haven't used any other reverb that works as well, is light on CPU or just "fits" like TSAR1. I do own a ton of great reverbs, but this is on every mix. Favorite uses are drum room and vocal reverb. Now, the secret's out.

Wasted Space is cool too I don't really have any need for convolution reverbs though. I dismissed Softube before because of the mid amp sims but I was wrong; their effects and the Weiss line are wonderful.
