2nd one states, it’s an rca cable: xlr to rca, so should just be passing analog I think ?

There is a specific cable requirement for both AES and S/PDIF, and no surprise, they don't even match. But probably using the 110ohm cable would be fine, and if you are looking at a cable under 2ft in length, it's probably not going to matter too much. Mogami W3402 (audio cable) says its nominal impedance is also 110 ohm. So just don't use a shitty audio cable and you could even make your own. Then again for $14, why bother? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S/PDIF

I would go with the first, not because of better cable or correct cable but simply because I trust Lynx to do the correct thing for AES to SPDIF with that pesky 3rd conductor, generic Amazon cable not so much.

I already have one of those Lynx aes to spdif. No problems at all. I just needed another one and that one on Amazon would get here Thursday. But yeah, second link was wrong cable. You would think somebody would have this cable being in Music City…but alas, brick and mortar is rare these days.

AES and spdif are identical at the protocol level. There's extra bits used in the protocol for AES payloads when the AES flag is set high.
One could consider AES as the "pro" version of spdif.
In fact, most AES /spdif transceivers are the same parts. The overall impedances don't matter much if the cables are only a few feet in length.

It should include a transformer!

you don't need a transformer for such a short cable

you don't need a transformer for such a short cable I ordered one…should be Friday. It would probably take me that long to solder one lol. But thanks for the diagram…I might give it a shot.
