These guys should have more subs. They just post demos of the gear they fix, but some of it is awesomely random, like this compressor/limiter/expander/tremolo:

I know those dudes! They are in my town (Cincinnati). Great work, but also long wait times as a result.

Looks like it sold. Very interesting device from the description. Will have to keep an eye out to see if it's being flipped. Dual mono I think, separate sections for comp and expanding for each channel. Lots of possibilities! I've got a DBX-118 on the way and that's probably the appropriate level of sophistication and spend for me to get some vintage companding. But a fellow can dream about this Uber compander!

Never heard of it! That was a fun rabbit hole though, found a great review from 1984: www.muzines.co.uk/articles/thompson-vocal-eliminator-ve-1/6421"People have tried this sort of thing before. Kenny Everett has certainly used a similar device on his radio show in order to play vocal-less records on the air. And the trend even spread to a few companies releasing records of tampered-with multitracks (a totally different idea, of course) such as EMI's Beach Boys greatest hits without vocals. The Beach Boys without vocals. Great! Next: Sunny Ade without percussion. But I digress."

TIL the digital board of an EMT 250 has no PCB, just loads of wires, pretty crazy looking.

Yeah, it's a great channel and they're doing the tough work on all these old boxes. Probably keeps the market spiking on a lot of cool stuff, but that's the world we live in.
LT Sound CLX-2 is one of my favorite VCA compressors. True hidden gem. Like a fatter, more tweakable DBX and the de-esser is solid.
I have another LT Sound box with a delay, EQ and reverb. Cool but weird. LT was like Deltalab in that the guy behind the company made a lot of variations in weird configurations for whatever inexplicable reason. I gather that he was thinking of singers (karaoke for the Vocal Eliminator?) first and every situation they need. His 1998 looking website is still up with a plugin he designed.

Love DBX compression, sadly there don't seem to be any CLX-2 demos anywhere online.
