Curious as to thoughts on this regarding LDC's particularly. As you may expect, I have a few inclinations on this already.
But Grasshopper here is still open to learning...
Thanks in advance for your responses, Chris

I have some "different voices". (Not just the ones in my head either)
So partly thinking adding the 3rd food group.
Having Tube/FET with (giant BTW!) Transformer already. Maybe now Transformerless. Chris

Transformer, FET.
U87 or Soyuz 017 FET.

I know Brent over at Purple Place is fond of saying that LDC FET mics with transformers give that extra bit of intelligibility, especially in a mix.

Transformer, FET. U87 or Soyuz 017 FET. Totally agree. The U87 is one of the most-used mics for VO. But the Soyuz 017 FET for VO is 🔥🔥🔥

Honestly most VO guys primary concern was finding something where the proximity effect of a mic worked with their voice. The second biggest issue for many was off axis response/ consistency, the ability to lay down a great hot take without reading the copy first was a big deal to many.

How about the Transformerless sound is more "Modern"/more nuanced comments, I've seen elsewhere? (or heard in all those Neumann staff meetings ) How would you compare TLM 170 vs. U89?* Or MG M930's? Chris *Just saw a (2018) TLM Thread here where I asked the same question-LOL! But at least this is meant in the VO direction. Geez 5 years flew by!
