Thinking about getting one...but have a few questions.
How do you like it? Will it control third party instruments? Ever use Aftertouch? You miss Faders and knobs? Do you have to keep something like Maschine open?

Watching a review of the M-Audio Oxygen Pro and it might be exactly what I'm looking for at a killer price.

I had the S61 mk2 and I still have the S88mk2, though it’s in a closet unused right now.
I actually really like the functionality and workflow, and as long as whatever plugin you’re using has NKI format (many do), it appears as a native plugin on the little screen or in the Kontrol plugin/app. That app has some really useful features like unusual scale arpeggios and stuff.
I got the S61, then decided I really wanted weighted keys, then got the S88 but it’s physically HUGE and just doesn’t fit under my desk. I ended up going back to using my Nord Electro HP as my controller bc I like the feel of its keybed and it fits under my desk. But if I had the space I’d use the S61 along with my Nord. Once you get comfortable with the UI, it’s very cool and definitely faster to scroll through presets and dial in your sound.

I have one. Honestly, I don’t use the extra controls much. I find I’m happy to tweak an analog synth while I play, but for whatever reason, with VSTI’s, I tend to find something in the ballpark and then refine and automate afterwards with the mouse.
The U-He synths and some other third-party ones work, and you can access the patches from the combined interface. That can be cool when you’re hunting down a preset with keywords. I’m not sure if you need the keyboard for that, but it’s bundled in.

I picked up a KK S25 MK I with Komplete 11 on Reverb back in 2019 for under $300 to use as a console-top controller. Using the encoders for instrument control/browsing, it relies on there being an NKS library available for the VSTi used. Luckily those can be user-created and shared, I've even purchased a couple through this user's site: freelancesoundlabs.com/index.php/downloads/komplete-kontrol-vst-packsI decided to pick-up the S88 MK II last month from the NI store on Reverb, as they were being blown out on Reverb for $466, and having an 88 key weighted controller in-house will make working with a number of music directors simpler. They are indeed massive to move otherwise. I dig the improved color screens on the MK II, though I'm basically frozen at the 2.9 version of the Komplete Kontrol software as the new releases will only support the (edit: MK2 &) MK3 versions forward.

If you're deep into the Native Instruments stuff, the s88 is an awesome keyboard workflow wise. From DAW control to auditioning sounds, it's really useful. Plays good, and the velocity tracks appropriately as well.

After a long, exhaustive wringing of hands - I ended up paying $125 for a Keystation Pro 88. The same keyboard I had for like ten years and then sold several years ago. I know…shocker.
