Cubase 13 has been pretty stable for me using it the last few weeks. It just hangs up on the open project screen every third time I start it but runs perfectly fine after I end task/restart it. Not sure why. 12 was/is super stable for me. Any issues in the past were generally a random freeware/new plugin causing issues. Annoying to sus that kind of stuff out, but I've been in a stable spot for a while. I've heard the Mac version isn't as stable. My biggest gripe with Cubase has been the progression into higher and higher contrast color schemes from version to version without any real options to fix it in the settings. It does a number on my eyes when I'm working for hours. 13 seemed to be even worse with that, but hopefully they'll take some of the feedback I've seen online and tone it back a bit. Or I'll just deal and put more effort into resting my eyes I guess. Pro Tools always looks much gentler when I end up working in it. I've tried multiple times to match the track colors in Cubase, but they always seem to have a lot more zing/eye burn no matter what I do. Variaudio and Audiowarp in the edit/mixer window are just so god damn convenient that I'm hesitant to dig into a new workflow. Am tempted to have Pro Tools around just because, but I can't bring myself to buy a license/get a sub. Yet. That's a bit odd. I've been using 13 and on PC Steinberg have changed the GUI to a very flat 2D (Kindle paper white) kinda look. Controversially I should add - over on GS a few people hate the new 2D look. Personally I love it - it's allowing me to do very long sessions with no eye strain especially as I'm a glasses user. My GUI looks much more "grey tones" than ever. Which part is "higher and higher contrast color schemes" .... I'm not seeing that at all on PC?

Yeah, mine seems to be as dark as it has ever been. I wish the Mix window had easier to read slots. Maybe a little bigger. But Cubase seems to be the most tweakable outside of Luna...hell, you could probably find a Spongebob theme for Luna.
Cubase questions as I think of them: Is there a "favorite" plugin preset? Like in PT, I use Pro-Q3 and the 1178 all the time, so I can click on the insert and those two plugs are available to select in one click instead of drilling down or having to type a few letters.

I have folders in the plugin manager. I never have to search, because it's all really organized. For instance, in the folder Dynamics, I have it broken into Compressors, Limiters, gates, Deessers, Multiband, etc. And, inside each of those are further organization. So, compressors are broken down into type of compression. I keep my most used at the top.
I also use insert presets. I save my most used chains and then I can load them in with a couple mouse clicks. Works well for me.

You can make as many folders as you want. On the upper right of the plugin manager, click the plus sign to add a collection. Then you just make folders and drag plugins from the left into the folders. Kind of time consuming the first time but then it's always there.

The default ultra dark backgrounds with bright white text and full opacity colors tend to give me double vision after a couple hours. I can't read white text on a black background for longer than a few minutes either. I need it to be a little more grayed out/pastel or something. I've spent hours messing with color schemes and sliders and all the options available since version 8 or so trying to find the magical combo that doesn't mess with me. Just kinda is what it is at this point. My eyes just seem to suck. Still love Cubase.

Have to say - the color adjustments in the settings are confusing to me.

I upgraded from v9 to 12 and absolutely hated the change in GUi colors. I bought a better monitor, and got blue blocking glasses from the optometrist, which helped a lot. But it’s like they were trying to make to bad.
Not sure when I’ll upgrade to 13, it has some great features I could use, but I hope it looks better than 12

Cubase has very extensive Plugin Folder management. It also has a very slick "track preset" system.

I've also been checking out Cubase 13, and it's pretty cool. I've been making music for a while, and this new update has some neat stuff. The Channel Tab is my favourite – it lets you mix faster because you don't have to return to the MixConsole. Also, the MixConsole itself looks cleaner and has handy new things. For vocals, Cubase 13 is great. They've added new tools like the Steinberg Vocoder and some new EQ plugins, making the vocals sound fantastic. I've been using these and really like how my tracks sound. If you're considering moving from Professional Tools, I'd give the latest Cubase version a try.

Any experience on Mac ARM?
The performance of Cubase 13 on multicore cpu's was suposed to be improved, but the reports seems to be divided.
I am having Logic on trial. Probably same price ad an upgrade. 12 is okay, but 10 might have been more stable.

Yes. You can save a "plugin chain" as a preset on the channel window and recall it anytime you want. And furthermore, it will remember how you have each plugin adjusted when you save and name. A real time saver.
