I have a MIDI to USB converter on the way, primarily so I can use my Korg synth as a MIDI keyboard for my plugins in Reaper, rather than using my cheap M-Audio keyboard. My digital Soundcraft console has MIDI so I'm considering using it as a control surface for Reaper, are there any additional benefits besides the obvious uses for a control surface? My console has built in Lexicon processors, can I apply that aspect of it?

First take a look at the manual for the Soundcraft online, I'm pretty sure the HUI implementation is pretty basic ( you will have faders)
Yes you can use the lexicon effects, but not via Midi , you will have to us an input and an output.
Not To hijack your thread but a guy who like me remembers when Tape was all there was and I were talking and both said the Thing we wish we had for PT and all other DAWs is a frickin Autolocator/ Remote!
Hey any of you out of work Coders Here's an Idea make a program so I can use a Alesis BRC as a PT locater !
Wouldn't care if I needed a Rassberry PI as a translator!

Thanks, faders and pan etc isn't enough of a reason for me to put a good sized console on my desk. It's a 324 Live console, one of their first digital boards.

At one time I was convinced to buy an O2R as a control surface AD/DA. Hated it for that, but used it as a live theatre board where I did like it for the recall when doing musicals. Ended up with a MCU and these days I keep leaning Towards Either a Small D Command or a Euphonix Artist Control on top of the Console!

Pretty sure all the MTPAV series had LRC/BRC control--and it would spit that into Cubase. Mind you--I only had a LRC with said set up, but it worked fine. It had the whole "ADAT sync" ports....wasn't a BRC just using that? Of course, Tranzport is a better solution all day...but, also no longer made. Not sure I'd want to invest in a wired remote at this point....but, MOTU's MIDI boxes have the best timing on Windows, IME, and great CoreMIDI implementation, TOO...so, it's not like it's a single function box....

BRC spoke its own language, in an average tracking session I t still feels like I'm arming tracks, and using transport functions 99% of the time. It just feels like an old school Autolocator would speed things up! Then again for me PT is a glorified Tape machine with great editing!

If the SSL Sigma did panning I would probably get rid of the console go hybrid and lust for a System 5 DSP!
