I only bought one new CD in all of 2023. The Black Pumas - Chronicles of a Diamond. I was probably too busy buying plugins to notice CDs. I'm going to sound like an idiot, but I didn't know CDs were still being manufactured in 2023. How do you listen to it? I force it into my 8-track cassette player. also, little known fact but CDs will play on any turntable that has a "78" setting.

Are we counting reissues new to this year (or end of last year)? I got a bunch of the Drexciya and Juan Atkins records that Tresor reissued. Also picked up the Current "Yesterday's Tomorrow is Not Today" boxed set on Numero Group.

A lot of stuff I buy these days is stuff released many moons ago, gaps in my collection as it were. For example I intend to check out more of the early iterations of Fleetwood Mac, complete my Joe Henry library, Thin Lizzy perhaps. I’ve been avoiding the Grateful Dead my entire life. Will 2024 be the year I actually check them out? Time will tell perhaps. Cheers, Geoff Oh good another Joe Henry fan! What’s your favorite record of his? I try the Dead once every 2 years or so. Just can’t seem to find a way to find it interesting. Bringing this up as I just got Fuse. Loving it! What are your faves? Cheers, Geoff

"What new music released 2023, did you get this year?"
Um, what does one mean by *get*? Buying a vinyl?

not from 2023 but I recently grabbed the 2022 release "Automaton" from sleaze rockers Crashdiet of Sweden
they might not be everyone's cup of tea but I love this band the songs are great lyrics are great their new singer is awesome
The recording is excellent and they sell their music and merch direct through their own website
- Heavy rock is alive and well - "We Die Hard"
ps I can't understand why people say cds are dead? Since when? Anytime I go to buy something it's on CD and usually vinyl as well

My typical Kidding aside... I sense overall the 90's were the "last gasp" of originality. (Pop Goes The 60's/a wonderful YT Channel BTW/Off the lawn-Now! ) Chris There's plenty out there, trying to find it is a slog though.

I can’t pick a favorite amongst those records as it depends only on my mood on any particular day. But WOW. Everything about them is perfectly imperfect in the most beautiful way.
