Izotope rx Izotope tonal balance control (super handy visual feedback that has become an indispensable problem solver) Mdw drc2 Melodyne (sorry🤷🏻‍♀️) Massey drt Lately I’m really liking the new tdr arbiter plugin I loooove tonal balance2. I did notice they didn’t update 2 to 3 when O11 came out. Hoping they aren’t junking it for the AI stuff in 11.

I’m looking at everyone’s favorites and am amazed how few of them I’m familiar with!

I bought a vintage Analog Peterson Strobe tuner years ago and it has been freaking awesome. No other tuner I've used works as well as this. Super accurate and just has guitar intonation nailed to a tee. The digital ones just flat out aren't as accurate/good.

Line6 Helix + Helix Native plug-in. These have cured all guitar-related GAS for me, they sound great and make guitar tracking very simple. Also very quick to reamp the DI signal.
Izotope RX. As a live guy, I’m often mixing the multitracks from an event, it’s indispensable for cleaning things up.
Metric A/B. Should come standard in every DAW
Dynamic EQ (Fabfilter and TDR Nova GE).

I’m looking at everyone’s favorites and am amazed how few of them I’m familiar with! Same thing ! ------ In all honesty I suggested this thread solely to have a short list of Dan's favorites. ------ Streamdecks are cited a lot, and I join the movement : Streamdecks are making DAW life better ! Reaper custom actions flourish on Streamdecks.

The IPhone! Always having a FFT and all the other AudioTools at hands, being able to work on a Quick speaker design anywhere, a camera, a PDF reader, a CAD reader, a voice recorder. A flashlight, a notepad, a Music player. The internet, all my manuals at hand. What did we do to get by in the old days?

Inline with the title of the thread, the 52" SawStop table saw. Gateway to so many great projects including this new back wall which is doing some pretty mind-blowing things in my room.

If we are going in this direction I’ll throw in my Milwaukee m18 track saw. I should have purchased a track saw years ago and I’m kicking myself for not doing so after seeing how easy it’s made my life with certain projects.

Love that saw, if only I had a shop space. Since I don’t let me say the Kreg Tracksaw is a magnificent compromise!

Very top of my list is Metric AB. I think I’d rather have stock DAW plug-ins and that vs all my plugs and not that. Maybe that’s overstating it a bit but it (Metric AB) is really indispensable to me. It’s kind of a toss up between a bunch of stuff after that. I’m really leaning on/loving BSA Silencer and Clipper. I just bought a big bundle of UAD stuff after being out of it for years. Remains to be seen which I’ll come to really rely on, but API Vision, UA 175/176, and Sound City are early standouts. LS Reverberate 3 is also up there for me. Reverberate 3 with some added IRs is even more useful than I thought it would be, and I already liked the concept from the original Reverberate. If you have your go-to banks and presets you can try something, and if it doesn’t work you just try something else. If it’s close but the tail is a bit too long, there’s the optimized decay control, which is especially useful for the Bricasti captures. If it’s too static, there’s a wide range on the modulation control. Having a largely tweak-free reverb with a bit of wiggle room has been a good experience (knowing that the deep editing capabilities are there too). I’ve really been digging it for drum rooms.

I remember drilling through 98 year old Cypress beams to re wire in Galveston, even a 24volt drill with a fresh charge took 3 times as long as a corded Dewalt.

Wire/pipe through beams? Time for the Hole Hawg
(Just make sure it doesn’t throw you across the room if it jams up on a knot)

Battery Powered Chain Saw Do you need a second or third battery powered chain saw? before I burn mine, I mean Ward - yes, please send me one or two. In return, I'll see if I can dig out a MXL 990 out of the trash and send that to you as a token of my appreciation. Do you need a second or third battery powered chain saw? before I burn mine, I mean Awe man, in general I get the convenience of battery powered tools, but when you need to do real work the power weight an balance of corded just kicks ass. I did a lot of research. I'm not a logger. I'm a composer producer. The new generation DeWalt 16" battery chain saw will cut for as long as I want to. And I have a spare battery to boot. Out on the jeep trails, battery t*umps a gas powered saw by huge margins. No oil spilled. No waiting for saw to start. No pulling, pulling, pulling. Just grab it and down comes the trail blockage. You guys need to get with it on the new gen saws. If I had to cut a BUNCH of trees for a living I'd get a Stihl MS500i.

Process audio Decibel metering . Just for the fact you can have the meters on an iPad or other device always showing and not taking up Daw screen space . Too pricey, but goes on sale often process.audio/en/products/decibel

Another tool making life better, the Hakko FR-301 desolder machine. Genius. YESSSSSSS!!!!! Â When I finally just ponied up and bought one it was like the heavens opened up. Â Brilliant!! As a side note, I'm hoping they will come out with a plugin for this SOON!!! A plugin version is in the works! It effectively decompiles any solder plugin. RTAS only.

Another tool making life better, the Hakko FR-301 desolder machine. Genius. That is a great tool. I picked up a Weller 1010 recently to replace my older eBay Hakko. Great area to invest in if you're making your own cables and such.
