The Coles 4038 and Hardy strike again. Just love what these pieces of equipment do. Decided to record a Barry Galbraith arrangement of "For All We Know" on my Eastman archtop through my Muleskinner 1x12" Princeton. The room isn't great so I mic'd a bit closer than I wanted to at about 6" from the grill. Love that low end, though. Verb is UAD Ocean Way, Stratus for EF and Hitsville Chamber's for length. Jazz guitar Coles 4038 - Hardy M-2

That sounds great!
Of all the mics I work on, it's my favorite to listen to after a fresh ribbon.
The reach and low end bloom gets me every time.
Regards
Jon

Lovely.
Are the pick sounds from the pickups, or are you sitting close to the amp and the mic?

Lovely. Are the pick sounds from the pickups, or are you sitting close to the amp and the mic? Thanks! Probably both - I put an unpotted pickup in this guitar and it pickups up a lot of my pick/hand around that area if I touch it. I also was to the side of the amp maybe 3 ft away.

Ya, sweet track and sound, an m2 is on my radar ! IME, the Seventh Circle Audio J99 with Hardy 990s sounds right on par to an M2. It's a great alternative if an M2 out of reach. (It was for me, but I've now built a full rack 8 of the SCA J99s)!

Order of SCA stuff? Usually insurance on shipments IIRC, did you successfully file a claim with USPS etc.?

SCA reimbursed me directly, he dealt with the insurance, took months to resolve drag. i ended up with a daking 2 channel pre(trident clone), which am I really like, butt I woukd still like a pair of those sca too !

sorry it was drawn out for getting it settled. i think cory is of good character, but as a 1 man show myself, i know it's hard to front a lot of cash before reimbursed from shipping company (talk about drawn out bureaucracy with USPS/UPS/FE...). Anyhow, I think SCA is one of the best values around, especially if you are handy with an iron, so I'm hopeful you'll still try them out! (no affiliation to him, just a customer). also sorry for thread OT - back to the show!

Build a rack of SCA J99’s and don’t look back! John Hardy always said it wasn’t quite a dead on clone but they are nice.
