OK - I have a perpetual PT license, but my yearly subscription ends tomorrow. If I let it lapse, what does it cost to get back on board? Is there a penalty? I know this has been discussed, but I just wanted to make sure I didn't need to pay the mob Avid before I incurred a "re-sub" fee.

My understanding was that a "perpetual" license means it is NOT a subscription, like once you stop paying, it just stays at that version until you decide to get back on board. A friend of mine just went through this and I think it was around 400 to re-up, but don't quote me on it.

A friend of mine just went through this and I think it was around 400 to re-up, but don't quote me on it. best to check with your sales rep first to be sure if re-upping before expiration isn't a better price, but my understanding is the same as Lee's, and I would add while there are never any guarantee's it will be the same each year, PT/Avid has often put PT Perpetual available to reinstate expired update plans at a reduced cost often on sale from Black Friday to the end of the year multiple times and consistently the last few years I think. So instead of $400 normal retail for it, it's $200 on sale currently to buy another reinstated Perpetual plan that has support and you can download the latest versions for 1 year. I do what some people do and purchase PT only when I really need to update and can often run for a number of years on a older version until I upgrade something in HW/SW that requires a PT update, and then buy the reinstatement plan (which could always go away but hasn't)......and also good to know is that when I bought it on sale in the past, that the 1 year of support and latest downloads starts from when you register it with Avid and not when you bought it. So my last reinstatement I bought on sale December 2021 but didn't register till I needed it in May 2022 and I had 1 year of support and downloads from then until May 2023 FWIW. But check with your sales rep to be sure.

Is it possible to do some kind of month to month PT subscription? Like a Netflix account that can be deactivated for months at a time. I've looked at their site but it's not clear. I doubt it's possible but thought I'd ask.
I've been running Cubase for years at my home studio (and really don't feel like switching DAWs) but use PT at a studio where I often record. It's rarely an issue, but every so often it'd be nice to have PT at home, though I'd only need it for a day or two at a time.

You can let it lapse you just want get any support of updates after tomorrow. You can download and install whatever the last version was, i believe it was 2023.9, forever basically(unless they change that) and install it where ever you want. So long as you have the ilok with the license on it your good.
Then if you want to update to new features, you have to buy a year plan for support. Which I know for me(Protools Ultimate) costs me around $400 a year.

I dropped my annual subscription at the end of 2019 and just picked it back up at the end of 2022 for $265. I'm on the Studio version though.
