Couldn’t find the old main thread. Will the new comp module( vari mu) fit in the mki or only the mkii?

Yup. The mk2 has an expansion slot that will take mk2 mojo modules - OR - color modules.

Damnit...why it gotta be so damn expensive? I always say the same thing but then I realize there are 4 preamps in there and I understand. Kinda.

Damnit...why it gotta be so damn expensive? 2 EQ's 2 sets of Filters 2 Spatial Processors 2 A style Preamps 2 A style Line Amps 2 N style Preamps 2 N style Line Amps 2 "C" Expansion slots with (Stereo) VariMu compression To me, the price seems like the bargain of the decade compared to buying all those pieces ala carte. Especially with the Cyber Monday week pricing. To you YMMV. That's totally fair. It's a lot of gear stuffed into one box. For many, it's the only piece of outboard they need. Take a look at most outboard gear PCB's and the components involved - then take a look inside a SB. It's freaking packed. We know it's a chunk of change for anyone - myself included, but LTL has held the pricing pretty well even though being hit with huge supply chain price hikes, and now serious inflation increases. It is what it is. If you can't afford one, there is always the plugin - although it's not going to have the workflow benefits, the preamps, and the magic of hardware. But hopefully there is something for everyone. Another thing to consider is Chroma - both 500 modules and the rack mount. Serious bang for the buck there, and it has the same bloodline as the Silver Bullet. Might be something to consider.

When you itemize all the elements of the SB, its not a one trick pony, but neither is it inexpensive. I always was though, surprised at the price and have never bought one. Its like the perfect box to buy starting out, but many wouldn't realize that or later, when you really know your stuff and signal flow.

But the best is still coming. You guys are gonna love it. It's in the works, but not quite ready yet..... The beauty is really in the customizable modularity and future proofing.

I put in an order for an mkII with the Fairi-Mu option earlier today. If anyone here’s in Scandinavia, and in the market for an mkI, I have one for sale at the end of Jan.

Throwing my hat into the ring on this - all controls are stepped, yes?
And do LTL charge tax and/or shipping?
If I can sell a couple things I might give this a go

1. Yes all pots are stepped.
2. Yes - LTL charges shipping. Upon checkout I paid no tax as I'm not in CA.

And I personally like the steps on the SB2 better than the SB1. It seems easier to use and yet the steps are small enough.

We changed the mojo amps to +/- 21 detents from the mk1's +/- 41 detents. I agree - much better. The EQ's are still +/- 41 detents for more obvious subtle EQ moves.

I'm not a fan of "all-in-one" anythings. I prefer discreet units.
But I can say, if I ever sold my big rig, and was making a retirement downsizing move then a SB2, Cubase on a Mac Studio and a pair of ATC 25's would make a fabulous compact rig and in this setting I think the SB2 is great value for money!
