They have an excellent trade up program if you have an original dbox.

The Grace M905 is the first D/A that really opened up my ears. And not only sonically, but really well thought out and put together with features I need. The only thing I miss is the ability to nudge the Subwoofer signal by ms to deal with room nodes.

I've always liked the sound of Dangerous D/A. The Source is a great monitor controller with their built in D/A. It's the most affordable high quality D/A I can think of. The Source sits at 600 used so that means you can get it for a couple hundred less than that. Zen Pro blowing out the Prism Callia new for 700 was a huge deal.

OG D-Box D/A is good and they're very affordable used. I use mine as one would use a Source, basically. Aren't there a lot of issues with prism? Never even seen one in a commercial room.

I’ve got the newer D-box and am very happy with it.

I do agree on not seeing them (at least in LA) in commercial rooms. Tho I could say the same for UA interfaces, almost everything is AVID HD interfaces. Maybe you'll see Apogee (in particular at their own Santa Monica studio). I'm not sure what the scoring stages use, I haven't worked in those. I also throw my vote in for the Dangerous Source. I got it so I could have something for system audio when running HDX and was happy it's good.

Another happy Lynx Aurora (n) user here, I basically stopped worrying about conversion after the upgrade. To be fair, I haven’t tried Burl, Dangerous Music, Prism, etc. but at the same time don’t feel a real need.

Fortunately, the Aurora (n) is much better than the original Aurora which was released in 2006. Concur. I've owned both. Lynx is big on customer service, too. They do it right. I think at this stage the customer service part is generally more important than the converter. Fortunately things have moved on since 2006..
