I have a basic question about interfaces, sample delay compensation, and the 500R8. I use Logic if that is relevant.
When I record instruments separately, I’ve noticed some interfaces will automatically compensate for recording delay, but not the 500R8.
When I used an Apollo to record drums first and then bass guitar for example, the bass is automatically lined up with the drums at the same starting point.
The 500R8 does not do this at least not on my Mac. I have to drag every instrument track to line up with the drums, which I record first 99% of the time.
I love the 500R8 sound and conversion, but as I take on more projects to which I am adding drums and dedicate more time to family and my career I have less time to drag things around in the DAW to align tracks.
Why does the 500R8 operate this way and is there a way to make the 500R8 do this automatically without additionally software?
Thanks for your help

Logic has a "recording delay compensation," and that's what you'd want to measure and use (when using the 500R8). You can click a checkbox on and off, IIRC, so if you're not using the 500R8, you would uncheck the box, and if you're using the 500R8, you'd check it. But again, you need to measure the latency first to ensure you have the right value.
This is all due to how the driver of the device in question is interacting with the OS, and whether (or not) it's reporting its recording latency correctly to Logic.

I did try this but I didn’t notice any difference. If it matters, I never needed to check that before with previous interfaces. I’m wondering if the differences are previous interface software and how the device is recognized. It could definitely be user error though. I’m not the most savvy with Logic.

I fixed this…
My preferences were changed to -5000 sample delay. How? I have no idea, but it took much effort to fix.
Thanks for your help
