[…] is it me, or are some of these Lauten videos oddly thin on promoting the mics? […] In marketing, sometimes "less brand in monitor is more". That Lauten are the ones providing this, and that they don't need to mention their mics can be seen as even more powerful branding-wise, and lead you to want to find out more on yourself. If you look at YouTube channels about guitar pedals like JHS Pedals or Wampler Pedals, you'll almost more often see them talking about a classic Boss pedal, a Fuzz Face or a Klon, rather than their own offerings. It'll feel like they're your friends that are extremely knowledgeable about what makes a great classic pedal tick, and not there to sell their stuff. Which will reflect back nicely on the brand. I absolutely don't say that these people aren't genuinely nice nerds that just love to talk shop, regardless of brand, but I don't think it's exactly hurting sales either.

Your reply reminds me why I’m not in marketing. It may boost interest in the product, but it’s a really soft sell.

Legend. Hey, is it me, or are some of these Lauten videos oddly thin on promoting the mics? You've got Darrell Thorp sat there, but he's just shooting the shit the whole time. It's fun to "hang out", but I still think it's a curious way to market a thing. EDIT: I partly take it back. The one with Joey Waronker is a bit more informational. That's another great Gadson clip. I love how he doesn't change anything until the last 2 bars. He's jut laying down the groove and smiling the whole time.

His drumming is the equivalent of Bill's songs. Simple, perfect and completely original.

Yeah, its kinda crazy how straight he plays. It reminded me of Gabriel Roth's principles for Heavy Funk, for some reason – the way the guitar part is a puzzle piece in a larger clockwork: www.funkydown.com/downloads/shitty1.pdf
