Hey guys, this is more of a post-production question. Does anyone have any experience trying to clean up audio that was recorded on something like an iPhone or internal mic on a computer? You know that sound...like a low quality mp3. My immediate thought is to try and filter the top end out, but it still leaves something to be desired. https%3A//soundcloud.com/bentreimer/remembers-celiam4a

downward expander, noise reduction plug, then some ambience plug to make it sound natural, the compression swelling sucks lol

You wish to make this sound more natural? Band lift 350 cycles down to 100hz by about 4 to 6 db, cut a little medium sized notch out around 900 hz, and lift the igh shefl from 5khz up by about 2db. the noise reduction and some ambience.

I was about to say, it's extremely mid-forward ane a little nasal. Ward's suggestion is what I'd do.

Thanks for the reply's guys. svart@tonycamphd@ward I'll give all the usual tools a go for sure. Nobody is aware of a Rx2 type program or plug that is purpose built for this type of thing eh? Not balancing the eq, but getting rid of that gritty, compressedish type sound in the mid-top end. I can hear it best on the "L" and "S" consonants. Didn't know if there was some sort of granular thing that would look at the frequency information around it and try to rebuild somehow. Terrible description...

De-esser? Generally I've found that each camera or memo recorder (the little handheld jobs) make things sound different from each other. Some trash some of the audio attributes while others trash other parts.. It's usually best to just do EQ, de-essing and the other things separately and then create a plug-in chain or preset(if you are using plugs..) for each device you get your audio from.
That's what I've done with my camera audio at least.
Good luck.
