Man Australia is the Austria ! Nice price and does it sound as big as it looks? I'll post some samples soon! Yes it's as huge as the Austrian Alps! My fathers side of the family did come from Northern Italy, Trieste to be precise. It's very close to Austria and share's some cultural similarities maybe it's in the blood.

Man Australia is the Austria ! Nice price and does it sound as big as it looks? My wife is a New Zealander and lived in Australia for many years. When I’ve visited and been in the music and equipment shops the prices are crazy high! I think the government imposes very high taxes on imports, they have a very strong buy Ozzy first approach to the economy. That must encourage people to start making their own gear. IIRC JLM kits are Australian too.

So I was quite surprised when my Transistor OPR 251 arrived that it matches my serial number of my Tube OPR 251. Nice. Tested it out on spoken word. It has the very nice clear highs, very solid good lows not huge like my old Bock which was too much. Very quiet. Very similar sounding to the Tube 251. Here's a big statement - I think for the money this transistor 251 would make any Neumann TLM49/67/103 model redundant.
And as a bonus feature it is significantly cheaper.
This ones a keeper.
Thanks Mark.

And here I was just thinking to myself, "damn, I'd pick one of these up if I hadn't just bought an M49"

Bit curious about how this sounds on spoken word (male in particular). Also interested in how it might compare with Beesneez BC12A Fet. The prices aren't far apart. Best not to ask about trade secrets, but does the verbiage here mean this capsule has a different chamber construction or something else? There are a lot of "not really C12" type capsules about these days and for a consumer things can be quite confusing. Spratty

Spratty Hey Spratty, The Capsule in the 251 Transistor has the same chambered internal construction as an original Brass Ck12 but the rear back-plate is inactive so that it can only produce a cardioid polar pattern. I'll get a spoken word sample up shortly. Cheers! Mark

That would be awesome Mark Even something simple like reading a shopping list would be great to judge the timbre of the sound. Kind Regards, Spratty
