The only plug-in I feel I have to have is the UAD ATR-102. I could do an entire album with that plug-in alone. Martin, What does that bring to the table? Cheers, Geoff

were there licensing issues? That happened with the digital fish phones plugins with magix. And the later analogue modeling suite including ammunition sort of drifted away too. I'm not too sure. I remember the digital fish phones stuff was really cool as well. It was an Abbey Road plugin(there used to be an abbeyroadplugins.com site) release that I think was partly developed with Softube. The thing I don't get is that the Brilliance pack was sold and branded the same way and it has since been taken over by Softube and is still available, but when I asked them about the RS124 they said there was pretty much no hope of it happening. The TG12413 that was an Abbey Road/Chandler release also got canned and was later replaced by an inferior Waves version. It's weird to me. I was also a huge fan of the EMI / Abbey Road RS124 as well as the "Mastering Pack" EQ. Both of those and the TG12413 were coded and developed by Frank Filipanits at Cool Stuff Labs. (They're even listed on the CSL portfolio here.) I have tried in vain many times over the years to find out what really happened to prevent the plugs going 64bit, but I've never heard good answers. I've still never heard another plugin quite like the EMI/AR RS124 that Frank coded. I absolutely loved that thing.

Seriously, it’s got some great general presets and a sub set of mastering presets, 3 different tape types and speeds, so quite versatile( hidden control features under the hood( eq settings, noise, etc., fun to customize).

Anyway that list seems very prosumer vocal production focused and leaves out the rest of the Waves Renaissance Maxx and Sound Radix bundles and the oldschool Sony/Sonnox Oxford six pack made by Paul Frindle. Those are very powerful. The Pro Audio DSP DSM is also great. Where are U-he too? Their synths and fx are all great. Brainworx Black Box is more popular than Klanghelm MJUC? No effin way. Klanghelm just didn't pay Pro Tools Expert

I’m still holding onto hope that this will make a return one day 🙏🏼 Whoa! Is this the VST version from like a decade (or more) ago? If so, YESSS! It's the one plug in that I ended up abandoning at some point because of DAW? Operating System? Can't remember, but it was a true diamond in the rough! Other long gone (for me) legends for me: Waves API Collection Logic Silververb (still exists!) Original VST GRM Tools Waves RVox (always on bass) Waves SSL Comp Current legends: UAD Plate 140 UAD 1073 UAD ATR-102 UAD Chandler Curve Bender UAD Precision EQ

Bias "compresses" as much a I usually ever need to, the EQ's are super powerful and flexible depending on speed and other settings, and there are just so many overall character options between the tape formulas and calibration/speed settings...

EchoFarm. The only plugin that I went and hunted down multiple hardware pieces when it went extinct. Thankfully, it was resurrected and I sold off most (kept one just in case) of the hardware units. Which models do you like the most, if I might ask?

This is all interesting, I'm sure many others missing the RS124 32bit plugin is what brought out the Waves version but weird they didn't get the original coders. On a side note his portfolio reminded me of other plugins from back in the day (and current times) that could make this list. Funny enough with the new Kush eq coming out the other day I re-installed the UBK-1, I loved it back when, it'll be interesting to see if I have the same opinion now.

Plus it's stereo! It just lays and melts into the track like butter!

No McDSP Analog Channel?
It hasn’t aged so well, but back in the day it was the only way to deal with digititus.
Massey Tapehead came a little later but that was the next step up. Then the floodgates opened and we had Decapitator/VCC/Trash and a million others.

The only plug-in I feel I have to have is the UAD ATR-102. I could do an entire album with that plug-in alone. Martin, What does that bring to the table? Cheers, Geoff There are two presets that can do most everything you need. The 30 ips mastering and the "Smooth Vocal". I typically use the Smooth Vocal on my 2 bus. First, just do a good basic mix without it, then use one of those presets on the 2 bus, turn it on, and it's obvious what it's doing. There's enough gain to do without compression if you wanted to and still get enough level to send for mastering. What's great about the ATR-102 is it isn't heavy handed. Everything just sounds a little better. Tracks instantly go from "demo" to pro with it. Perhaps it's simply the tape saturation/compression thing, i wouldn't know. Then there's the versatility, All sorts of effects can be had by adjusting parameters. I get better tape delay on the ATR-102 than from any of my delay plug-ins. It can naturally help tame transients on guitars, improve bass guitar weight and has some special effects. If ever there should be something named Bettermaker, it should have been the ATR-102. Also, I love that I can cut the tape noise completely, or sprinkle in a little to taste. By the way, I don't like the UAD Studer. I used Studer's for years, and UAD's bugs me. Their Oxide is especially good on bass if you happen to have it. Studer

We can’t forget the greatest 2 plugins ever, The TRS and XLR, although the world of bare wire and barrier strips was cheaper 😁
