So I got a 41 despite the absurd price haha…but the LFO doesn’t work aggghh! Returning. It did sound absolutely sweet though. Back to the hunt… Oh man, that's a bummer. I've made some really crazy cool things with a lot of feedback and the LFO doing it's thing. My alltime go to rack delay was always the incredible TC Electronic 2290. That's a deep unit.

My alltime go to rack delay was always the incredible TC Electronic 2290. About 5 years ago there were 2 mint 2290’s used at the local GC, still kicking myself for not selling one of the kids kidneys ( like anyone would pay for any of my organs 😁). The. 2290 is a beast, but don’t confuse it with the very basic 2280 stereo unit that I get at least 1 email a month about.

Their building was a 10 minute drive from me and I brainstormed with them about some units. Here in Denmark every studio had at least one. Before DAWs we used to use the midi option, stripe timecode and use the sampling function to fly parts around on 2 inch.

The 2290 was one of those boxes that was deeper than anyone imagined, if you collected all the tricks people came up with you could have filled a book and honestly someone should. The only other box that comes close is the Eventide H series.

I recently grabbed an Effectron II - ADM 1024. I plugged my Prophet 5 into it and the two haven't been parted since. Curious, though... I had an Effectron II as a teen and thought the feedback could hit self-oscillation when cranked to full. Maybe I'm misremembering, but my "new" one doesn't do this... I have 4 Effectron II's (also either owned or used just about everything else listed so far!) and the ADM's will NOT self oscillate like an old Boss or Ibanez analog delay pedal. They'll do a near infinite repeat and go for a hella long time with feedback cranked up... or hit the infinite repeat button and then you can play the knobs & get into all the nifty spaceship sounds. Two of my ADM 1024 are in the main outboard rack, have another 1024 as spare and then an ADM256. These are all 12 bit digital delays... I got the 256 from a studio that used it as pre-delay for their EMT plate! As much as I love and use things like echoboy, there is something about those krusty old boxes that's really enjoyable. They're also just about the best flangers going. Way, way cooler then just about everything ITB with the exception of the UAD/MXR flanger. Has anyone tried the new TC 2290 pedal? Seems they finally got around to doing this... $350 www.tcelectronic.com/product.html?modelCode=0709-AJO
