Anyone have a pair of these? Or know of an affordable ear pad replacement option? These started disintegrating 1 year and 10 months after purchasing new, seeing only occasional use. I contacted Focal and was told replacements were $70! I expressed my disappointment and asked if it was normal for them to fall apart like this? The reply was “Yes, but I think it’s worse if you have a rough beard.” First, insane that a company would admit that it’s “normal” for a product to fall apart after less than two years of light use. Second, super creepy that the rep must have looked me up on social media before replying, how else would they have known what I looked like. Why? To see maybe if I was someone important or not? Anyways, Focal will never get a dime from me again. But I’m left with these. Any suggestions?

I also have a rough beard but sold mine long before I reached the same amount of time as I couldn't get along with them at all (or any Focal product I've ever heard). That said that's the biggest BS response ever, I don't even know how many pairs of headphones I have and none have disintegrated like that, looks like it's just cloth then foam? Looking at a well worn pair of 10+ year old Sony 7520's sitting next to me and the shiny pleather has flaked off but they still have a durable cloth backing before we get to foam.

thats really really shabby. that should not happen and replacement should be way cheaper. they had the problem with the cracking plastic on the focal spirits now this … i would not invest in any focal product.

The cracking headband on the model that preceded these was another poorly-handled issue. Seems Focal could stand to put a little more effort into ensuring the longevity and fixability of their products.

Same issue here! Very disappointed with the lack of quality & customer service. I ended up going with these instead: Jecobb Listen Earpads Replacement... www.amazon.com/dp/B08CRC9NGP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share They are a little more firm/tighter fit around the ears but they work. I hope that helps!

The cracking headband on the model that preceded these was another poorly-handled issue. Seems Focal could stand to put a little more effort into ensuring the longevity and fixability of their products. The amplifiers in the monitors are a big problem. They use OEM Chinese amplifiers in French made speakers and it doesn’t seem like they’ve changed them for the new ST series. Outside of ATC and Genelec, there’s not many currently widely distributed powered monitor manufacturers ready to timely service their own electronics. Most of the “authorized service centers” just wait weeks for a new plate amp and chuck the old one. Sometimes they’ll even damage your monitors doing so.

I too had a pair of Focal phones that self destructed like a Spinal Tap drummer. I did like how they sounded in their all too brief lifespan.
Cheers, Geoff
