It’s interesting, I wonder where Harrison’s new masters are actually building it. What scares me about that is if they were smart a Console particularly a modular console would be easy to build all the modules in China and “ assemble in the US”. damn they are going to see this and think Hey he just gave us a way to around all the flack about Made in China SSL😕

I'm not as put off by made in china as I am at the thought of 'cheaped out in china with corners cut everywhere' like Uli does.
However, I would be a whole lot happier if all Neves and Focusrites, and Doc Martins, were still made in the UK . . . and the same for all classic American, British, German et al designs and makes. CoO.

Prosumer NJM and JRC circuits, board mounted pots not screwed to the chassis, circuit boards not cleaned of flux, poor qc, pointless features on the current rack Mount gear, half assed plugs. Their bus compressor and channel strip are ports from the c200 digital console and are still disgusting pokey shit often worse than what comes with your daw. The flex verb is worse than the old x verb. This is going to suck.

Ward, Solovair are the old Docs without the yellow stitching. They were the original British factory making the shoes licensed from Dr. Marten himself. Docs themselves declined after going bankrupt and then more so after being bought by private equity. uk.nps-solovair.com/

I sort of expected to see Harrison Mixbuss on the display, not pro tools.*
I'd be worried about this being discontinued a few years or less in production. Different company, but I feel every couple years we hear about something like Toft come along and disappear in less than a decade.
Edit *= referring to the video in the link.

Oh Sydec, first discarded by Mackie bought back for a song, sold to SSL and once again in the dumpster.

Yeah, I have owned a Harrison, and one big thing for me was the fact that traditional Harrison consoles are VCA based, it’s as much a part of the Harrison legacy as the in-line concept. The thing with VCA based consoles is for them to work and not be noise machines you have to use the trimmable VCA’s . If you go cheap on the VCA you end up with a Crest X- VCA, everybody thought the non VCA version was killer console for the $. In the live world everyone wanted to demo the VCA though it would be great for meeting riders, I don’t know of anyone who wasn’t disappointed. Of Course if Unlike Dan you like those SSL plugins you can get what was a $100K+ C200 for less than 8K, just don’t expect any support.

I already own 4 Harrison consoles.
At $90K, I'll keep my hand wired Harrison MR-3. with the built in patchbay.
The MR-3 is in the same league sound wise as the original MR-2.
I already have enough converters.

A lower priced 16:8 model without the inbuilt converters would probably appeal to some i would imagine.

Absolutely. 16:8 or 24:8. Without converters. Would love that.

There is a blank channel at the right of the master channel. If they could fit another group + cue matrix in there instead, that would be absolutely killer. It's probably not going to happen ^^. It's just weird that an empty space is there.

My Harrison MR-4 was purchased new. With sealed bourns pots, all gold contacts, P & G faders, LED Meters, 24 buss, socketed IC's and pots, and built in patchbay.
Made in the U.S.A. with all quality parts.
It was 60K in 1981, and it is still in service 42 years later and will continue to be.
Let alone the MR-3 that is still kicken it.
All though I don't see a patchbay, and only 8 buss,
If the new console is built to those standards, it could be a good long term investment.

Messed with it at AES for a good 20 mins. It sounds really good. Eq is super smooth. Feels real. They did a really nice job with it. The frame is built like a tank with a proper 12” or so shelf on the back. You could stand on the thing and jump up and down and it isn’t going to budge. Power supply is beefy and plugs into a single iec at 110.
Cons: -solos are hard switched, so no solo clear in the center section. That seems like it might not be a big deal but coming from working mostly on ssl desks you get really used to that feature. Bummer. -of course no automation and they don’t plan on adding it or making it a feature. -not inline -32 or 48. No plans for 24 channel versions unless they get tons of interest in that size.
Really cool desk. I’m not sure what market they are looking to serve though.
