Liking seams wrong but I like that you found this. Now my hunch, that I have bought up before that this will be the crossing of the line in the sand, why you ask? Well my audio Econ brother Ward I’m sure will see the obvious reason, publishing a book is where all your political types make their first couple of million. They will put limits on AI and how it can be used to protect and expand their revenue stream. The main use will be to engage AI as a less expensive ghost writer, they will love the fact that they can put limits on what truths it can spill, take a bigger piece of the pie and cut off any AI generated unapproved content. |

On the other hand, has anyone read much of what kind of creative work those AI models produce after reading all this?
Most of it, but especially the songwriting, only rises to the most basic level of quality.
I do think that visual artists are in way more trouble because of the time and labor that goes into their craft versus how seemingly easy it is for AI to produce "close enough" work in seconds.
I've had people tell me that music and writing are not going to be inherently harder for AI to pose a threat, but I have yet to see it wow me in either of those arenas.

The problem is “tech” really means we are a new company and use computers, Uhber isn’t tech it’s a Taxi company with a pretty app and employees non CDL drivers so yeah they are cheaper, but we can skirt regulations because we call ourselves Tech. All you have to do is say algorithm and everyone thinks your the shit! |

AI from Big Tech crossed the line almost immediately after release into the wild. The reports of guesstimate 'new Beatles' type stuff should have been an eye opener for everyone

The difference is they are now unemployed long enough to file and all the tech hubs are to expensive to live on unemployment. Even if you get a severance package that you could live on for a year in Wausau WI it won’t pay rent in San Jose. |

Yeah, not going to do it. Anytime I get to a page where you must subscribe in order to view it, I'm out. I don't care who it is. If I'm going to have to put up with all the ads and endless shit they constantly throw at you, I'm definitely not going to pay anyone to do that. I'm going to have to be really interested in something to put up with that. AI is AI and it's going to happen no matter what I think. So, no. Not doing that.

We'll get AI pop fodder, half of todays main stream radio sounds like it's AI produced already to my ears! The cookie cutter can be in a human hand or AI output file. What we won't get (imho) is a David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Talking Heads, John Lennon etc etc Because those guys are true artists and made music by breaking all the rules and doing the counter intuitive and not just looking to the future but shaping the future. AI - doesn't have a direct connection to a brain, a heart and soul all at the same time - you can't "programme" the unprogrammable. |
